Returning Merchandise
Boy, Mexican enterprises HATE to take anything back, and most places just flatly will not. Although I am seeing that situation change more over the last couple of years. Now in the smaller clothing stores, and electronics stores I am beginning to see signs on the wall, Exchanges and returns no more than 7 days after purchase and must be accompanied by sales receipt.
That is one reason I have always preferred shopping at the American chains here for any product that may prove iffy. I know I can return it without any hassle.
Up until 2 years ago, I always got my eyeglasses at WalMart or Sam's Club optometry department. I knew that if they were not right, I could insist on them changing them until they were.
I just bought a treadmill. I saw one in WalMart for the peso equivalent of well under $200 USD. Stupid me. Never occurred to me it wasn't electric. Got it home, then realized what I had done. So I hauled it back, and returned it no problems whatsoever. They asked if I wanted to look at electric models and I said yes, found one I wanted, and simply paid the difference in price. Even had two semi-strapping young men haul that thing out to my car and get it in the hatch.
And I know if I have a problem with it, I can return it, and get my money back.
Mexico is not big on customer service or client satisfaction. The basic operating principle is get your money, and buyer beware.
