Honor Our Veterans

To those who are willing to sacrifice their lives, and to those who did, we owe a debt of gratitude that can never be repaid.

In distant lands the war clouds gathered, threatening freedom around the world. The storm began with the thunderous roar of guns and bombs, and showers of bullets amid the flying shrapnel. The ground became soaked with the blood of those who died, that freedom might live. The storm spread around the globe, leaving over sixty million dead in its wake. In the end, freedom prevailed.

John15:13—Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.

Our Military Vehicle Preservation and its military members are having a procession through Sherman to the Fairview Park where there will be a service and speakers on the 11th. Sherman does not support a parade and Denison has the Memorial Day parade. Bonham is having something on the 6th and Denisonis having a service late in the afternoon on the 7th. Donna

I can remember when I was growing up on Memorial Day and Veteran's Day we would go to the local cemetary with my grandmother and place flags on all the graves of veteran's, we did it until she got sick with cancer and couldn't make the trip anymore. My grandfather served in WWI and both of my uncles and aunt served in WWII, my aunt's service impressed me so much that I enlisted in the Air Force after I graduated.

My grandfather was in WWI, I have his oval military photo and it is one of my cherished posessions. My uncle, John was killed at Pearl Harbor, and my dad was there for Korea. If you want to adopt a deployed soldier....visit the Reaganroundup.org. I am now writing my 18th soldier/sailor/Marine/Coast Guard. I am going to meet with a soldier I have been writing to from Djubouti, Africa when he comes home at Christmas. Can't wait.
