BUY AMERICAN.?

Do you feel obligated to buy American? to buy products made in Michigan?
In lieu of the present economy, to you find yourself checking more often to see where products are made before a purchase?
Are you willing to pay more if it means, 'made in USA?
Have you been more aware/concerned of this since the change in the economy? Do you feel your decision to buy/not buy American will/won't really make a difference?

Boy, do I have a lot to say about buying American.

First, I hate the fact that there is nothing more self-serving and self-destructive than the American automotive industry. Have you noticed that while you can distinguish an SUV from a sedan, you can not tell a Ford from a Chevy from a Honda? When Chrysler came up with the PT Cruiser -- although retro, it was a different design idea -- what happened? Chevrolet imitated it with the HHR.

Rather than develop a fuel efficient car, the American automotive industry gave us gas guzzlers.

Second, we are destroying the planet with plastic. Are you aware that in China, where all the plastic . . . substituting the word junk for the word I wish to use . . . is made that there are two production lines, one for America and the other for the EU which disallows some of the toxic, cancer-causing chemicals we give to those precious babies, the ones that escaped being aborted, to play with.

Third, American executives ship jobs overseas as easily as they change their socks. People with skills, such as sewing, are marooned in Maine and Wisconsin while their jobs are in China. Wow! And those same turkeys with their inflated salaries wonder why no one is shopping.

That said, I did buy two Chrysler products in a row. When I needed a car the last time, my kids joined together and told me to get a Subaru.

I live in western MA,in an arts town. I boycott most chains. Who wants anything that Urban Outfitters has to sell anyway? I buy locally grown food from the farmers that I have come to know and respect.

I try to buy American products when possible. Own domestic vechicles now but have purchased overseas brands. I go to Costco instead of Sams because I believe they treat their employees better.
