opinions needed

well I am hoping I done the right thing, but still have until Saturday to change my mind.
I presently have AT&T DSL, AT&T phone, and Dish Network Satellite for TV. This is all bundled under one plan by AT&T
Recently I got a call from AT&T telling me about their new Uverse plan which is a fiber optics system for phone, computer and tv. The services I would get are the same as I get now with the present system, except for a few new upgrades. But the big thing to me is that it would all cost me $30. less a month than I pay now, and 30 bucks is 30 bucks!!
Has anyone heard of Uverse? Do you have it? I need to hear pros and cons.

I have seen it advertised on TV....but I don't know anyone who has it yet. I think they are still running a lot of their cables in Louisville.

I have it. I like it. Satellite isn't always reliable when it's stormy, which is often down here, I would lose the signal. I don't notice a difference in the phone service because I don't use my land line that often, but I do like the DSL part. I have a desktop and a laptop so I have the a modem with wireless capability.

All I know is AT&T is ripping me off every month. I have only basic phone service - no Long Distance or special features and their modem with their 'fastest' DSL which isn't always very fast when high usage hits. "ALL" this for $70/mo. I don't have nor do I want cable so I don't know of an alternative but I sure would take it if there was one.

red, i use comcast, bundled, including hdtv cable box, and i'm very happy with the service. its around 145 a month for telephone, hdtv, and internet. AT&T started uverse here about a year ago, and by signing up i would have saved about 40 a month, as i recall. but i can't use it because of the big trees in my yard which partially block the signal or something. i have not heard anything bad about uverse, its quite common here in the NYC suburbs. if you will save $$ i say sign up! heck you can always switch to a better offer when it comes along, nothing is forever carved in stone.

Fiber optics I thought was cable, not satellite. It's supposed to be far superior to typical cable, fast, clean carrying the packets. Verizon began installing fiber optic cable a few years ago and the cost was more than regular cable. Those who switched to fiber optic that I spoke with were very pleased with it. You can google the name of the company they are suggesting and see what comments there are on the web.

Red I have had it for a month now and absolutely love it! Have phone, dsl and tv. It is a wireless modem and they installed it in my bedroom behind the tv so no more equipment on my desk. I had been dealing with static on my phone and having to unplus my internet modem several times a night. And I had both with AT&T. Now I have no static on the phone and no more computer problems. I love U-verse!

life was so simple with Rabbit Ear Antennas, Rotary Dial Telephones and writing letters.

Red it sounds like DDT has your answer.
When I moved here I looked for a company that bundled all three and I found one. The price is high but I am getting what I want. HDTV on a 46 inch screen is really nice.
