I hate to say it....but I have been in churches that had so many rules....that God couldn't even get in.

Why would I "confess" to others? And why would I want to hear their confessions? That's not up to them or me.

There aren't lots of 'rules' at my church (and I didn't read the link). The Bible does speak about confessing our faults to one another. It's about accountability, opening yourself up to another person so you're able to experience God's love and forgiveness in human form. No need to give all the gory details, just a basic description. It's a chance to have someone pray with you and for you, to receive encouragement as you become more like Him.

In some religions, the church forgives you of your sins when you confess them. I believe that only God can forgive our sins.
In regards to rules, I left a church when they continued to preach that if you didn't agree with their rules that you should leave. So, I did. ;-}

I like this website and am looking forward to the book. I believe, if churches will embrace it and really take this message to heart, a whole lot of people will form a closer relationship with Christ. I agree, the church used to be a sanctuary, where you could go to discuss how to overcome your problems with Gods' help and it would be wonderful to have that help available again. No judgement, no finger-pointing and whispering, just good solid teaching about how to draw closer to God and receive help from Him.

This post was to try and explain that we should all be able to be open at church without feeling put down,Sorry if I left wrong opinion.
Confession is agreeing with GOD that something we do or did was wrong because HE said so!!!
Sharing with a brother or sister in the LORD is to encourage and help one another,not confess to man to be forgiven .
