Thanks, mudqueen, I'll be sure and bookmark that site.
Thanks Mudqueen for the web site, it is quite informative (and full of opinionated individuals).
On that site I found a comprehensive reference to the eReaders including features and pricing.

Like I say, you can get free samples (of many pages) of books plus they give summaries in the "shop" before you even get that far. It's much more in depth than Amazon online. Also, Amazon keeps track of the books you order and recommends others in the same genre(s). Since I've been ordering from Amazon for years, I have quite the history and suggestion list from them every time I check out the store. Best of all, I don't need to carry a bazillion pounds of books around with me because I'm not sure of what I want to read at any particular time. And I always have the option of ordering yet another. . . When a book is done, archive it and have it available to read later if you want but at least your list of reads won't daunt you as time and reading go on.
Oh, and when even the discounted hardcovers come out, nothing beats a $10 version especially if it's a book that I may not want to keep around. If you resell a hardcover it goes for about $2 around here. So 25 - 2 is still more than the $10 you won't recover on a Kindle book. Win - win, no?
Oh good info. thanks everyone. My hunny keeps wanting to buy me a reader of some sort and I keep saying no. The prices are too high right now BUT last week at my nieces house I got to see hers and not I am not so sure I want to wait for the prices to come down. All that was said here just makes me want one even more.
Traildoc, did you know you can sell your used books to Powell's by mail? You type in the ISBN numbers at the "sell books" page at their website, they tell you which books they'll buy and what they'll pay, and you box them up and ship them - they pay the shipping charges. There's a link on the
"Resources" page of my website. You'll need a PayPal account to receive the payment (unless you go for credit), but PayPal accounts are very easy to get if you don't already have one. Just go to
www.PayPal.com.
Thank you WorldSoWide. I know I'll need to downsize someday soon and I'm dreading it. What goes to the kids; what goes to the library and church fund raisers; what can I keep; the list goes on. I've got easily 7000+ volumes. Sigh.
Wow that is alot of books traildoc! Where do you keep them? Hey, SLopok are you having fun with your reader yet?
To answer Mudqueen: I'm the sort of bizarro reader with bookcases in the bathrooms, wall to wall, ceiling to floor installations and sloppy piles in dark corners. I collect music by the shelf-foot, too. Books are easier to dust than most collectibles. Everyone has their addictions. . . .
I wonder is the Sony one is just as good as the Kindle or vice versa?? Does anybody know? I'd appreciate some input here. TIA Zochitl
