The last in our lifetime

The remaining ice fields atop famed Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania could be gone within two decades and perhaps even sooner, based on the latest survey of the ice fields remaining on the mountain. The findings indicate a major cause of this ice loss is very likely to be the rise in global temperatures.

This is one of a growing number of isolated remnants of ice spires that were once full glaciers in the crater of Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa. (Credit: Photo by Lonnie Thompson, Ohio State University)

Not "Global Warming" per say, but "Global Climate Change". From what I've read, the reduction in the glaciers atop Kilimanjaro is due mostly to reduced precipitation, not warmer temperatures. Do you have a source?

Climate change and desertification are perceived differently in terms of their impact. Climate change is viewed as taking place within a global-scale environmental system, while desertification is often viewed as widely dispersed effects of local environmental degradation. Consequently, different types of measures have been suggested to combat each problem. Desertification measures have targeted local resource use and livelihoods; climate change remediation efforts have focused on reducing global greenhouse gas emissions. As more attention is gradually being paid to climate adaptation and ameliorating local impacts of climate change, however, climate measures and desertification measures at the local level may increasingly complement each other.

Where are the climate change denyers? Guess LLL's picture scared 'em off.

De-forestation=desertification.

Notice how those religions from sandy countries seem to cause desertification wherever they settle and dominate the landscape? Do Jesus and Allah hate trees?

Just sayin'.

This isn't the first time the ice has melted up north and surely won't be the last.

The glaciers atop Kilimanjaro former 11,000 years ago. That means they sprang to life right after the Younger Dryaids and have existed until now (or rather a few years from now). There are only a few glaciers in the entire world that are growing and most are disappearing. The Arctic ice pack is shrinking dramatically. Antarctic and Greenland glaciers and ice shelves are thinning and breaking up for the first time in this interglacial.

Of course, some people are unmoved by facts due to their inability to get past their biases and fears. Those kinds of people are a drag on society.

So right SchoolBoy. We should send the draggers to the Arctic and make them stand around in white hats. This way they'll be useful.

We can't let them breath though.

I like this version better. Unlike other people, I admit that I made this up or just copied it.

The remaining ice fields atop famed Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania could be gone (but will probably reappear in 20 years) within two decades (or not at all) and perhaps even sooner (but most likely NEVER), based on the latest survey (by a bunch eco-terrorists) of the ice fields remaining on the mountain. The findings (that were doctored like crazy to come up with the "correct" findings) indicate a major cause of this ice loss is very likely (just a guess, nonetheless) to be the rise in global temperatures (DUH!). After extensive research, the unknown group figured out the reason for the "rise in global temperatures" is the Sun.
