I really like Max Lucado. What a nice gift to receive.
Hi Sue, I just saw this...duh! Can it really be that I haven't been to this group in over a month??? The church that has this women's fellowship is Hope Baptist Church...it is way out in the country...bringing true meaning to the phrase "country church"...you would be hard put to find a nicer, friendlier bunch of ladies. They put on the most incredible programs...My cousin's daughter is married to the Pastor, so we always get invited to their ladies night (the men watch the children and do the serving and clean-up) and also to the Valentine get together and their harvest dinner (usually the teens are the servers for these dinners). They go all out...usually prime rib and some kind of delish chicken and all the fixins...4 or 5 courses for the dinners, and beautiful decorations. At the women's fellowship every woman gets a wrapped gift that fits the theme of the message. Once it was a Bible, another time some delicious chocolate, a lace hanky pomander filled with potpourri was the gift at yet another, one time it was a journal, and at the first one I attended, the theme was Apples of Gold in Settings of Silver" ...we got homemade applebutter. It is always something unique and useable!!! I wish our church would do things like this. That is why I like a smaller congregation. I like things like "Secret Sisters/Pals", Secret Santa, Women's get-togethers (Bible studies or just fellowship), etc. Our church does a lot of community outreach, which is fine...I just miss the other!
I love Max Lucado too. I have a lot of his books...I think my favorites are "No Wonder They Call Him the Savior" and "On the Anvil", but I love them all!!!
