Roman Baths in Bath
If anyone is planning to visit Bath in Somerset, U.K., you may find this interesting.
The `waters` at the spring are a constant 55f and have been there for more than 2,000 years. The slabs of stone are worn, showing us where Romans walked all those years ago. Their is a bust of a Roman goddess Minerva, which is covered in six layers of gold leaf. This was done because the oil lamps surrounding her gave off flames which blackened her bust and had to be regularly cleaned. Their is a carving of her -- with her left foot on a globe of the Earth. Remember this is c.1,500 years before it was realised that the Earth was not flat!
