Its only costing me $400.. for a Head job

Well last night I successfully removed the air conditioner and alternator and drained the radiator and disconnected all the hoses a long with about a thousand other little things that needed to be disconnected...lets hope I remember where it all goes......this after noon I hope to remove the heads and take them to a buddy of mine who builds racing motors...he has the equipment to " shave the heads or if you prefer head job" which makes them perfectly flat again for the new gasket...he tells me he can do it for about $115.00 per head...I consider that a deal.....over all if nothing else is wrong with the motor I should get out for right around $400.00 which includes gasket kit ,,new oil (twice, some water did get into oil so I have to run a engine flush) and other fluids such as anti-freeze...I might go ahead and replace the radiator hoes while I have the old one off.....I guess in some places that would be a lot of money to pay for a " head job" but I think its a good deal....does anybody else know what a " head job " cost in their area..I would love to know

Yeah, I think CG could tell what it goes for in New Orleans. Seems to me he was talking yesterday about a head job he get there.

I actually got to thinking about this and had to do the math....since there is two heads that breaks it down just to $200 per head job.......I wonder if there is any kind of discount for little head and big head

Yeah, Amy's right, I do recall him saying that. EZ, seems to me he advised that New Orleans is a good place to go for hoes to. Not sure they have and radiator hoes, but if you need to replace one I'd check that out too in New Orleans.

amylou.....you've got to stop giving it away!.
$400.00 seems kind of stiff for a head job, seems like you would be shooting your whole wad ........one head job should be enough for any man........how many hoses do you have?........you might want to consider getting out of the bar business and joining the circus.........though with that many hoses you are probably quite the bartender...."want some heads on those beers?" Be sure to post some pictures of your shaved heads.......I'm more of a "natural" type of guy. I hope that once you are reamed out that you'll be more careful with your dip stick.
I usually pay around $24.95 for a lube job, upwards to $50.00 for a fluid flush, currently I'm having some alignment problems and have found that the additives needed to enhance performance are quite costly....but it's better then throwing a rod.........plus there are all the add on expenses such as court costs and fines...........it's really much more economical if you have the skills to take the situation in hand yourself........good luck.......it seems the higher the mileage the more costly it is to maintain performance.

some one suggested that I could save my self money by just using "stop leak" but then again that would take all the fun out of getting the head job....and besides I have heard that that stuff not only clogs up the leak but also all of the other orifices that excrete or let fluids flow has anyone else every use this product and experienced these symptoms ....The last thing I need is for all of my fluids to cease flowing...because right now its a well oiled machine( minus the slight head problem) and I want it to keep stroking ......CG I generally save money on the lube job because I do it myself....I have got a pretty good grease gun and just a few pumps does the job every time I usually do it about once a week not like the old days when I would do it three maybe four times a day ..depending where I was riding
