I used to wear "spiked heels" all the time(back in the day). I love the way the way they make me look and feel...unfortunately, since I broke 2 toes 15 years ago, I cann't wear them anymore.
I just began wearing heels a couple of years ago again. I love wearing them. It was something I did a lot before back surgery and enjoy being able to do again. I enjoy wearing skirts and love the look of heels with them.
Last year I purchased a pair of black high heel boots. I don't think I would wear them with a dress but love them with jeans.
I gave up high heels a few years ago after several broken bones. The heels didn't cause the breaks, but made me rethink the distance this old body has to go to hit the ground.
Standing on my feet at the store is another reason to opt for flats. There's no reason to create any more minor aches and pains than I already have.
Heels do look nice, though.
I don't wear heels very often. I saw what high heels did to my Mom's feet after she wore them for years and years. I don't want to put myself through that. I usually wear flats and sneakers, but I will wear a slightly higher heel if I am going someplace special.
I haven't worn heels in approximately 20 years. I got tired of my feet hurting, my legs hurting and my back hurting. If some guy passes me by because I am not in heels, I will sob quietly for a little while, and then get on with my life .... that would be the life where I can stand all day, walk briskly, run, and generally be active without falling on my face and breaking my nose.
I have sandals with the 3 inch wedge heel but no more stilettos - afraid I'll turn an ankle and throw my back out.
I am not going to wear any heel that's more than 3 inches high. Many years ago, I wore high heels--dont remember the height--it's been over 20 years since I wore what I call 'tall heels". My usual heel is just a couple of inches; I have enough problems! I know the safety and foot health dangers-and they are many- of wearing 4 and 5 inch heels.
Can't do it anymore. They kill my feet. I have plantar fasciatis (sp?) and torturing my feet to fit into heels just doesn't cut it anymore.
I love high heels and "dressing up" in them. I don't need the heighth, but I like being "girly"....for me, and nobody else. And only on special occasions.
Before I read through the other posts on this, my initial response was: Ask someone who has had foot and/or back surgery after wearing high heels as an everyday shoe for x# of years.
Yeah, they look great on almost everyone; make you feel girly/flirty. But as with most things: moderation is the key! Unless you're willing to finance a podiatrist/foot/back surgeon further down the road of your life. Them boots are NOT made for walkin'!!! (I think they're made for lookin' good on a mannequin or a display table.
