I readily hug and smooch my friends and family. Strangers, no, maybe because of the type of work I've done over the years. I'm always open to hugs from little kids and I've often been referred to as "everybody's Mom and everybody's Grandma." I don't consider members of a religious group/congregation/grove/coven to be strangers - strange, perhaps, but not strangers.
Have you heard that we need at least three hugs a day to stay healthy and human? So I take hugs wherever I can get 'em! In New Zealand we touch foreheads and share breath. It's a deeply moving experience, called "hongi" in Maori. I figure health is only a little bit about germs. Mostly it's about how strong our immune systems are.

I'm a "hugger" so I love to hug, but when it comes to meeting strangers it depends on the person. As far as sickness, I don't give much thought to it. If the person is approachable, there's going to be a hug! LOL
