How Have You Been Famous?

Andy Warhol said, "In the future, everyone will be famous for 15 minutes."

Because I'm an active person who puts himself out there, I've always been famous in a small way. My thought for tonight is this must be true for all of us to one degree or another.

For example, here I am accepting an "Actor of The Year" Award at W.H. Taft High School:

This event made me famous for 15 minutes among people who cared about drama at that school.

I could cite dozens of other examples: newspaper interviews, opening nights, poetry readings -- there's even an old radio interview I could link to right here, but won't, because the topic is political.

How about you? How have you been famous for 15 minutes within a small circle, i.e. that big wedding, Prom Queen, winning an award at the County Fair, etc.

Haven't had my 15 minutes yet......unless you consider the 5 times I experienced the birth of my children....and now the 4 times the birth of my grand children...and with them in this world...I guess my 15 minutes x 9 will become eternal...

What is "AS chief engineer," Aviator?

Must tell you that in my years as an actor I spent more time and was far more comfortable with technical staff than with my fellow thespians. Ran sound on "The Comedians" at South Coast Repertory here in Orange County. I was on a SETA grant at the time. The Artistic Director said I made great props.

PERSONAL TO GDAVID:

Put out those bowls, man. They are Blue Ribbon!

Skeeter...Re: actor of the year award picture... you were really cute, I especially like the blue dress!

Seriously, folks! Not that I can list here, other than having famous, well known relatives; Pope Innocent X, Lucretia Borgia and Andrea Doria families, Walter Palmer (actor, and stand-in for Lon Chaney, Jr.). I did dance on TVs Bandstand back in the day, wife and I have won a few dance contests, appeared in a TV promo commercial for the Orlando Magic basketball team, have had some of my writings published in newspapers, and have always been active in community affairs in my hometown. That's all folks!!!

Me too! We are peas in a pod. Were these in small poetry pamphlets like mine?

Me too! Our similarities grow stronger by the moment!

And why were you in the paper? (I hope it wasn't under the "Police Blotter.")

Mine were for productions of my plays and, later, for my work as a community activist.

It's nice to be recognized on occasion.

Sometimes I am recognized and must duck -- or run in the opposite direction.
