Now...that would definatly make for a stress free day.
I can identify with that.....

I'm determined to cut down the number of dishes I serve to FIVE. That includes appetizer and dessert, and I bet we'll still gain weight!
Hee, hee, nothing like a carefree corpse on the table!
I am experimenting with new types of food that I know my guests don't normally have during the year. Nothing exotic, but something to wake up the taste buds. Pecans coated in chile powder on top of the sweet potatoes, maybe. I hadn't seen that, but maybe someone else has. Any ideas out there, that I could use?

Cheri - there is a fantastic group here on Eons called Kitchen Wisdom. Tons and tons of recipes!
Pecans coated in chile power on top of the sweet potatoes? Are you out of your ever-lovin', girl? That sounds disgusting.
People don't want innovation on Thanksgiving. They want the tried and true. The comfort food of their youth. It is a day of nostaligia and overeating. And kids! Forget kids. They NEVER eat anything new.
Serve a thanksgiving meal full of 'wake up your tastebuds' foods and you won't be hearing any thanks, you will only be hearing, " Eeeuuuu. What's that? It looks yukky."

I say go with the tried and true but, so you can have your own fun preparing, make one or two new dishes. That way, people will only have to come a bit out of their comfort zone and actually enjoy trying something new.
I am so in agreement with tried, true and waiting a whole year to taste it again, so don't mess with this Texas* girls' menu............experiment with like a side dish , ok, but for sure MUST have the already ****** star winners....yumO can't wait..........I hope everyone cooks what they love and ENJOY and give thanks
