A Loose Woman, usually. My mother used this term a lot regarding the women in the small town that I was raised in.
Correct my mom and grandmother used the same term to refer to fast and loose dishonest women
A woman of easy virtue. A skank, slut in modern terminology.
Just one more label they pin on a woman and it's usually because they don't approve of her lifestyle.

I'm surprised to hear "chippy" has such a negative meaning. It sounds so cute like something every woman would want to be. Guess you never know!

Yep, another label. My mother used it as well. Still, "chippy" does sound better than "ho" or some others. ;-) I wonder how many labels there are for women who are perceived to be easy. A lot, in comparison, I'm sure.
Too bad men who whore around aren't viewed with the same disdain. Double standard, still.
I must be too young to remember that use of the word. In the British Isles, it's a noun used to refer to the fish and chips stand, or the person who operates the fish and chips stand.
It's also used as an adjective, to describe someone who has a chip on their shoulder.
kind of amazed they would use that in the old movies. back then they were a little strict about what was said. mostly everything was goody two shoes. looked it up and got this
Chippy may refer to:
* A shop serving the traditional British dish Fish and chips
* A slang term for a carpenter
* A dated British slang term for a harlot
* Chippy (album), an album of songs from a play of the same name
* Mrs. Chippy, a cat who accompanied Sir Ernest Shackleton's Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition of 1914–17
* Zippy Chippy, a racehorse who has lost over 100 races
* Chippy, a fictional character who appears in, "Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job."
A young woman every guy wants to date in High School or College. lol.
