Well thank you mooselver1. I might just do that over the weekend. Why wait for sure? I mean the tree could be a work in progress, right?
Sounds like a good idea to me! Sounds like it will be a beautiful tree! I have been known to decorate my tree, and then completely redecorate it in a few days!
What good ideas you all have!
I always decorated with assorted meaningful ornaments collected, given to us, or made by my kids over the years. Lately, after downsizing, I've put up only my Santa ornaments and a few other favorites. For a while there, I was collecting all different kinds of Santas. It would be nice to have an all natural tree, though.
One year I decorated my tree with red and white doves (the real small ones) and real fruit. I sliced oranges and apples and dried them in the dehydrator and used them as ornaments. I also hung cinnamon sticks to give it a good Christmasy smell. In the bare spots I hung those big red bows. It really looked pretty and I was proud of my creation. LOL
I was reading somethign yesterday about hanging sliced oranges on trees with cloves inserted in the middle and tied to the tree with pretty ribbon. Were they talkign about fresh oranges I wondered?
I would think they would be dried. It is according to how long you are gonna have your tree up I would think. Not sure. But I would say to dry them first.
What a great post! I love all the ideas, they are going to be so helpful to me! I was named yesterday, to do the decorations at work! I work with animals, after reading this, I am thinking along the lines, Of hanging little bags of dog, cat treats from the branches! And the birdseed in the clear balls, love the ideas! This way, we can pass out the treats and seed to the animals! Okay, what else can I use in the natural line, that can actually be used? This way, it can be an environmentally friendly tree too. I am reved up and ready to get started now!

I'm still looking for wome wild bird figures. I wihs we had a Michaels here. Bet I could find them there. But you're right..this is so much fun. Like sharing Christmas with a whole lot of friends!!
kjcee, what a great idea for your tree at work! And, ladywrite, I had to go to several stores to find enough bird ornaments for my tree. One thing I forgot, I also have small apples and pears (fake) that look like sugared fruit. Now y'all have me geared up to decorate for Christmas! Since we always wait until after Thanksgiving, my husband would think I'd lost my mind if he came home and I had the tree up today ;-). The birds are knocking on my window - guess they're trying to tell me to get off the computer and come feed them.
kjcee, How about toys! You can find some cute Christmas toys for animals! I got Homer a stuffed boot last year for Christmas, looked like a Santa boot. He still plays with it! Plus the toys would add a festive feel to your tree! The only problem with this may be, if you have a dog like Homer come through! Homer, would climb the tree to get the toys LOL!
