My Kind Of Town.

No not Chicago......too cold......too windy.....I'm talking New Orleans.
Just got back a few days ago from my 3rd excursion there. This place was made for me.......jaywalking with an open intoxicant....no problem.......I'm even kind of refined by NOLA standards as I pee in public on the less busy streets........great restaurants.......dirty streets....even dirtier women.......music everywhere.........and of course I got to see Dell and GNM. We did some fine dining and civilized talking........some drinking and music listening....... much like byrd, GNM tried to convince me that women were people...........not objects or possessions...........with Dell nodding his head vigorously in agreement as if his head was being manipulated by invisible strings ( the strings of love no doubt ).........when I think of the ties that bind my mind wanders off to bondage.....different strokes for different folks....... so to speak.
Well as luck would have it a few nights later GNM had bible study and Dell made a B-Line back to sin city to see me again........I can only assume that Dell had already tested out of bible study class. While GNM earnestly studied the bible........ Dell and I were working in strange ways........ I won't go into too much detail but we did find out that redemption was not to be had at a casino..........we then cruised the French Quarter for awhile.........after my married buddy left I promptly bought a woman......just kidding!!..............
I only rented her.........after all you can't own a woman ( see I was listening GNM ). At any rate a good time was had by all.....except for the woman I rented........I tried to get a discount because of my petite package and all she could respond was " shut up you're on the clock "........after getting off the clock....hey, it was dark and I was drunk........we consumated our business.........afterward she told me that I might have a future in the fast food industry............she was quite the jokester.
Anyhow........That's All Folks.

Correct me if I'm wrong, NNick...but ol' Grumpy is looking far from satisfied with the situation above.

Dell, much of the time I spent in Lousiana was around Shreveport and Benton but also managed to get a good dose of cajun life. Making sense of them or understanding what they said was non-sensical and quite an experience in its self. It seemed that some of New Orleans more lipit detractors I ran into were Lousiana residents, not from us Texas residents at that time, but that was 20+ yrs back now. Katrina was horrific and made worse by a tremendous amount of stupidity that was totally avoidable by complaceant residents in denial and an over zealous press.

I have been here almost 2 years now and have come to really like and enjoy Louisiana. The people are friendly, it almost never snows, and the alligators usually stay in the swamp! It is a conservative republican state with a Democrat pocket in New Orleans. Guess who gets all the press? The state like several others has had it's share of political crooks and scam artists but is actually seeking out the worst and we are seeing them inside of the courtrooms facing the judge every week. Like New Jersey, Illinois, Mississippi, and Florida, and my former home California...All these states have problems; but they also have great people working to get rid of the trash and make their homes better.

My best (and worst) Louisiana memory occurred when we docked our Menhaden trawler in Shreveport, LA when I was about 15 years old and I found out that they would sell me beer -- Can you imagine having a hangover on the deck of a boat rolling in the swells while being comforted by the stench of rotting fish??
