Old Friend

I ran to an old friend the other day. He told me " You look great for your age, ALMOST LIFE LIKE".

Why do people say " for your age" ? Is that really a compliment? We can really be hard on each other!!! AND-'almost life like' W O W!!!!!!!!
Hope you are having a good Sunday morning.

Yes, I understand being hurt a little...but, I think what they really mean to say is, "You look pretty good for what I think a person of that age should look like."

I think because it goes in extreme for looks at our age. After all, not everyone over 50 takes good care of themselves.

My 35th high school reunion is coming up at the end of this month and I'm dying to see who "held up at this age."

I always remember my eye doctor telling me I had fantastic vision for "someone your age." Ouch! But I really do have great distance vision. Can't read a damn thing without the cheater glasses though. He did add I may never need glasses for distance.

This isn't about people, but I remember taking my precious pug dog to the vet when she was 10, she's now deceased, but she had this tag (piece of skin growing outside of body) and I asked the young female vet what is that and her reply was " Oh she's an old dog, they get those."

I couldn't believe what I was hearing..... I actually changed vets. No big deal to some, but to me it was.

If Most people would stop being so Vain or try to look perfect or try to be something they are not then those comments wouldn't woul just go in one ear and out the other . Keep in Mind Noone or Anything living on this Planet ever , eve gets younger ! That's just a part of life is all . Deal with it . When people say to me Boy you're getting Gray or , Old , I simply reply ( At Least I am Around to GET Gray ) It's a Priviige denied Many !!

Good for you Harley, glad you are not vain or try to look perfect and you are so accepting to the fact you are getting old. That's good...like I said, good for you.

To the rest of us, there is nothing wrong with being bothered by statements that puts us into a bracket we just aren't ready to be in. Who wants to be "old."

Yes it is indeed a blessing to be alive to go gray, but no one says we have to.
