Here goes, Starrybright's Spiritual and Mysticism ideas...
I think love at first sight is at first sight, in this life, a recognition of love from another life, a past life, or a recognition of your lover for who they are...as in a future love relationship. If you believe in soul work, then this would be that...your souls recognizes it's partner in this type of journey.
Love at first sight, is love, maybe not one that will bring you a lifetime partner but it could...
I am a romantic, but also know that love isn't all based on romance and stuff. its built on respect and compatibility as well. You can love someone from the get go with all the heart throbbing and hormones running wild, but the proof is in the pudding...if it's real love something very significant will occur with it. a lesson learned...a growing..a deeper love for yourself and another?
STARRYBRIGHT: Because of an experience that deeply touched me, made use of my psychic abilities consistently for a few years and haunted me for a long time, I believe in the concept of soul mates. Me and that person involved were never a couple. The love I felt, I say from the second time I saw him was unlike anything I ever experienced. It was powerful and felt so strange yet familiar, romantic yet purely spiritual. There was never any lust involved. in fact once when I dreamed he tried to put a move on me, I did a broad jump away from him in the dream...like unh uh...this is not supposed to be happening! I concluded this had to be from a connection in another lifetime. I also sensed he may have been a close family member back then. In real life we considered ourselves friends but I found out after a few years that he also had strong feelings for me. I knew this was not something that we should ever pursue. Although we only saw each other a few times (not as dates) usually in public venues, I made the very hard decision to never see him again, easily done because we didn't travel in the same circles.
I think you're both right, starry and OED. That's kind of what I was talking about with my ex. I think we may have been connected in a prior existence, or are to be connected in a future existence. At 18, I felt the draw and misinterpreted it as love. I often thought over the years with him that my connection to him was more of an addiction than love. I don't know how to interpret that yet. IDK, maybe one or more of our daughters was the reason, maybe a family relationship had something to do with it. I'm out of my realm talking about this, sorry if it doesn't make much sense!
Amen...I agree with all 3 -Starry, OED and SueAnne. Starry, what you wrote could have been my words! That's absolutely how I feel...I am a VERY romantic person but have learned through life experiences that "the proof is in the pudding!" Well said!
I'm out of my realm talking about soul mates, too ... I do feel there are no coincidences in life, though, and that we attract and are attracted to others who help us grow in ways we often don't even realize until later, in retrospect. I think we may have soul connections with many people and our relationships with them help us grow, sometimes joyfully, sometimes painfully, and usually in ways we never expect.
BARBINBEND: You may feel you're out of your realm but you hit the nail on the head!! I too don't believe in coincidences and believe absolutely in what you said about why we are attracted to others as well as that soul connections can be with many (and it doesn't have to be romantic connections) and they do not always have happy outcomes. Clearly you "get it".
Excellent reading here of all these experiences...
