November Exercise- Facial hair, et al

As a special project for our newest teacher, and because she mentioned lacking certain prowess in this area, I invite you all to draw, mouse or paint- as the Big Bad wolf is quoted to have said..."by the hair of my chinny chin-chin"...

Paint eyelashes on those eyes you drew last month, or a moustache under that nose you created last month, or above those lips you sketched last month, try eyebrows, different hair styles, partially bald heads, take out that prom or wedding photo from WAAAAAAAAAAAYYY back then and draw for us that "beehive" you once thought was the best fashion statement you ever saw in the mirror. Draw DAs, Elvis's dooo, military cuts( sometimes called sidewalls), dredlocks, pony tails, braids, "Shirley Temple" golden curls, peach fuzz, goa-tees, full beards, "Cookie Burns" sideburns, (Route 66, remember?). For grins and giggles, try ARM hair, or "knuckle hair" (I'm sure that the hair that grows between the knuckle and first joint of a man's hand has a name but I really don't know what it is)...

I want to see HAIR, not the Broadway play, nor of the "mons pubis" or an athlete's underarm. If we were European or Eons less restrictive, I might have included these since "nudes" aren't always portrayed with bikini-waxes. I am leaving this paragraph right now...

Try different media- water colors, oils, pen and ink, CGA artists- scan in a photo of someone without facial hair and create some or include a different hair style. You got the idea. And just as importantly, do me a favor. Reach out to one or two of the inactive members via a PM (private message) and invite them to try their hand at this exercise.

And so, Terry, HAIRRY UP, it's a short month...

Your concern is so touching for my facial hair phobia, I believe it is time to face my fears and give it a shot. Hair today, clean shaven tomorrow. Thats after I do a little hair of the dog in the morning.

hair of the dog, hairy potter, what a world....did a whole lot yesterday afternoon on the village in the mural, transferred the buildings with a graphite backing and went to town so to speak... 1/3 of that is quazi done... shadows and finer details will be forthcoming. My back hurts a lot but maybe that's just due to using muscles that remained dormant during the summah.

Came home, showered, and I started the evening as harry potter's country uncle, with a harpo marx wig, farmer brown jeans, and a mask with a beard glued with pieces of the wig in sort of a straggly beard, but the hostess of the party had planned for me to be a death eater and had a really neat long black wrap around cape and a mask that was incredibly tight and hot but since I had to stand outside and welcome the kiddies on the way in to receive chocolate frogs and deal with the other characters, it wasn't too too bad. Plus, she had made a concoction of antique irish whiskey mixed with jabenero chilis that went down very smooth but came up just as smoothly... butter beer which was guiness with butterscotch syrup, actually very very tasty... and lots of food, lots of food... the evening wasn't too bad at all.

came home to find that the world series hadn't started so I got to watch seven innings before I went to bed...and awoke forgetting to turn the clock back to find that "we" (probably not you lol) yankee fans had another reason to celebrate...

today I have to really fine tune the boardroom portrait and varnish it. then send it off... then on to zony 3... have five pages already conceived and drawn but I need to take a trip to wallywonderfulmart and get a new printer cartridge. And if energetic, nah never mind... the trees still have some leaves on them and maybe this year I'll try leaving them where they landed, let the "four lettered word- starts with s ends with w, sometimes preceded with f*****ing") cover them until spring. never tried that- have two recommendations about that practice... one it kills the lawn, two- it nourishes the lawn. really don't feel like more exercise...... until I saw GRM's gift... I certainly could regroup in a heartbeat!

and finally, in order to wear that mask I made, I had to shave off my beard... kept the mustache tho.... otherwise it looked strange having a white beard beneath a blondish mass..... hope you all had fun last night... now DOWN TO WORK! break's over.......

You MUST post a photo of yourself without the beard!!!!!

I say, let the snow kill the lawn. You'll save time and energy now and you won't have to mow in the summer. Use your head man.

Do you mean to say that you've already finished the boardroom job?

Saturday - Kokomo Art Association... spent 3 hours taking in student artwork for the November student/teacher show. Came home... put the candy in a bowl outside the door and turned off most of the lights. Spent the evening with Cap'n n Coke and a few poker games. The Cap'n may explain the break-even instead of the profitable gaming

Today... hang the student show and help decorate the We Care tree for the gallery at the mall. (We Care is a local fund-raising auction to help those in need in Kokomo). Our tree is themed "His eye is on the sparrow" and will include hand painted bird ornaments from the 28 artists at the Artworks Gallery.. I didn't do one because I have enough trouble painting flat! I ruined 3 ornaments before I gave up and made some copper wire and feather sculpture ornaments (30 of them) as my contribution. Then I will come home and crash til Monday when we will probably finish the mural at the nursing home.

The mural is fun, fun, fun.... we are painting old movie posters on 3 - 8' x 4' panels that are on wheels and can be positioned whereever the patients are. We are listening to the crooner music from the 40s and 50s and take a dance break every couple hours to dance with the wheelchairs. I am worn out but will be sorry to see the end of this project.

And yes, I DO want to see a pic of the nearly clean shaven Robert and yes, G is right, screw the yard, if God wanted the leaves off the ground He would have made them fall up.

want and do are two distinctly different things. And no I spent today mellowing out so the boardroom protrait still needs finishing touches but yes, I'll post a photo of it, and yes, it'll be my Don Johnson look for the facial hair exercise.

oh, and who said "clean shaven"? usually I just take out my dog grooming shears and take off all but about 1/2 inch. Haven't let a razor blade touch my face that closely since leaving the Navy.

I just posted 2 heads in the Group Gallery, both hairy Halloween folks. I was just having fun doodling on the eve of the "trick-or-treat" critters that haunted my home!!

One of the guys in the camera club wanted to take some "cowboy" pictures at the old ghost town we visited, so this fellow was dressed for the event. I liked the burros better and the old cars and trucks, so only took a few people shots to work from. anyway it was 26 degrees at the time they wanted to meet, so I stayed home a while and let them do their "cowboy" shots

Great work, Mary! I'd have put a bit more shadow under his nose (like is under his chin) and a touch more dark under his left eye, but that's just my way. Love his mustache!!
