If it's so easy, why didn't it work in Massachusetts? Why do all the people I know from Canada (that's not a lot of people, I don't profess to know all Canadians!) hate their healthcare system? Why do people in Ireland hate the socialized system they have there? Why do people in these countries have to wait so long for MRIs, for example? A friend's sister just died in Ireland while she waited for tests -- someone, or a panel, decided that her life wasn't worth the money!

No one in particular, just making a statement.

I have a pal who is "afraid of pissing off the doctors" she has. She has some major health problems that she is afraid to go to the doctor for because in the past, they never agree to do any tests on her and she even has insurance. (she has switched Doctors - they are all in the same medical "team" - the only one her insurance will allow) She says if she ever becomes disabled because of these problems, her doctors will prevent her from collecting Federal Disability. All the while, they are making her problems worse by not diagnosing and treating her! Is that nuts or what? She is getting paranoid that she is on some kind of "list" of people that they just don't deem as important enough to warrant expert medical care! I guess I don't blame her for thinking that way. Not after hearing some of these stories! But, there is no one who can decide or say that one life is more important than another! Be they 14 or 94! Poor or wealthy! (right?)

Very interesting article from Belling in the Milwaukee Post today concerning the stimulus con. He describes e-mails he read from some federal bureaucrats insisting a local Milwaukee business claim they created jobs as a result of the work they got in the stimulus plan. They were essentially bullied into it; the Feds did not want to hear their initial honest answer: not jobs were created and no jobs were saved. One can only guess how rampant this is and why the administrations claims just don't add up. Wish I could find a link to it. What a giant con.

I heard about a school district that claimed 473 teachers jobs saved, problem is they only employ 290 teachers.

Maybe it was some new math the teachers came up with. :-)
