I loved math & homemaking just not the sewing part. I remember when we were baking our first pies and the kitchen blew up and we got out of school the rest of the day. We thought we had done it but come to be known the maintenace man cut the gas line with the lawn mower. It wasn't our cooking but it was the joke of the school for awhile.
For me it was music. I took every singing class available. I was in the chorus, choir and Madrigals and for an after school activity; Woman's Barbershop.
The Madrigal group was audition only. We sang acapella (no instruments) pieces from the 1300 to the 1700's. We performed in costume. We were also booked to sing at events throughout the year to earn money for the music department. We would get a group together and sing Christmas carols around town. It was big fun.
I liked history and home economics. I would of loved to have art but wasn't offered at my small school. I also liked chorus. Me and two other girls also got to sing in the boys chorus. That was fun.
Megan I would love to hear you sing. My daughterinlaw was the same and still auditions for different shows. She did a karoke contest for a month at this place here and she came in second, cause she didn't belong to the club but the one that one did. Think that was a fixed job, cause Tara sis a much better job.She also tried out for the local American Idol and she was down to the last 10 thru out the state, which was great. She came in 3rd there. We keep pushing her to go to Branson to try out for the shows. Al recess, I think everyone like that class.
Isn't that funny, basketcaz - my high school also had a singing group called the Madrigals. I can't sing well but I loved music and art. My favorite subjects were english and cooking.
Well, Lynxycat...the name of the group is more than coincidence. A 'madrigal' is a type of secular vocal music composition, written during the Renaissance and early Baroque eras. We sang sacred music as well, but it was all without any instruments.
Wow, I LOVED that madrigal video! Thanks for having it here. I would love to be a part of a group like that. I sing in our synagogue choir, but we don't get to dress up, of course!
