Differences In People

The citizens of the U.S. have the privilege of being divided. You never find two people who agree entirely, no matter what the question is. It is rare to find two people who agree on a subject without serious discussion on several points.

Looking back on history, it has never been really different. The political campaign fights even in the early 1800s seem just too familiar.

Yet we managed to build a nation which is the beacon of the free world, gradually move toward equal opportunity for all citizens, and become a superpower. So what exactly is it that we want to change? Should we all stand in line, pay our taxes, and keep our mouths shut, like they do in most other nations?

Thanks, redge5. You are right about the system being a work in progress. It always will be. A child coming from a poor uneducated family doesn't realize the opportunities that are available. His family doesn't realize that they are there. The child is taught instead to resent the more affluent. That is a self-defeating attitude and it perpetuates the culture of the poor. You can make a child go to school, but you can't force him to learn.

If there is any justice in this world KC will come back as a female of color who is a single parent and will work for someone just like his present self.

If so, I will do what Oprah or Condeleeza did. Maybe Queen Latifah.

Kerry said..... The child is taught instead to resent the more affluent. Who gave you this insight into the households of everyone?? I do believe you are telling on yourself. That is a self-defeating attitude and it perpetuates the culture of the poor. You can make a child go to school, but you can't force him to learn. I'll agree that resenting others is a real good way to put yourself in a hole you'll never climb out of. But it's hard for a child to go to school and learn much when they are working a full time job to help put food on the table. It's hard to learn when there are no books, or libraries, or computers. I could go on and on. But bigots don't care and no amount of conversation will change their minds.

no kerry, you'll be a single mother and be looking for a better job where the boss doesn;t want to fuck you in the backroom in return for some overtime pay...cause you will be a woman of color..or just a woman...and not a selfcongratulatory middleaged white male that thinks anyone has the same opportunities cause no one ever held you back ...told you you weren't good enough...or that it was no place for people like you...

you know i try to give you the benefit of the doubt ..to overlook some comments but then you just put out the most arrogant and stupid remarks with not a thought evident in the formation...and it betrays the fact that you really dont understand what the world is for anyone but yourself

I am not sure this country is a beacon of light to anyone anymore, not for a long time..............we are no longer first in much of anything except excess..........certainly not in education, nor in health care, nor elderly care or infant care. Certainly not in business with all the corruption we have seen recently.
When a country no longer cares for the poor, the sick the old and the defenceless then it is no longer civilized. We have become a nation of whiners and complainers who are out for themselves, taking care of number one is the first priority. Until that changes we can expect to continue to slip down into obscurity where all super powers end up in the long run.
I do not believe most people resent the afluent who come by their success honestly.
