Air Travel w/Eclipse

Hi folks, For those of you interested in renting or buying a portable oxy concentrator (POC) like the Sequal Eclipse, Inogen etc; I just bit the bullet and booked a flight and rented a POC from an on line site. BEST thing I've ever done (so far).
I traveled by myself to visit my daughter. Every one at the airports were overly considerate. The unit fit right under my seat, and my carryon each time was hoisted to the bin above and retrieved at flights end by a steward.
I wound up buying a brand new unit for myself and am so looking forward to getting up and just going.....don't have to call my supplier with advance notice of where I'm staying, no heavy tanks to lug, the unit can run all day when driving and then plug in to any wall socket to save on battery use or to recharge the battery. And best of all I can use my Cpap equipment at night with the POC I rented.
If you are thinking of buying, now is a good time as they want to get rid of the older models before the new arrive and they've dropped the price. You can always ask what the update would be on the new model for comparison.
Summer Rain, I got the type that you have. Thanks for sharing your thoughts about it awhile back. It gave me the push to get started that I needed.

Sweet breathing all,

I have traveled with the POC which I rented. I went by air and also a cruise. It's really great but I was quoted a price of $5,000. This is too steep for me. Who is your supplier?

Hi Gogranny!
I did a lot of research before I decided on view link because my oxisupplier doesnt' carry the Eclipse for some reason. It's the only one that has a choice between pulse and constant flow (which I need for my cpap at night). If the link doesn't work it's OXIMEDICAL.com
Total cost for the travel package, brand new, was $3500. Their rental price is expensive, but they gave more for the buck. AND they are listed in BBB.com (Better Business Bureau of the internet). I think they were the only one listed
I couldn't be happier with the service, the IMMEDIATE attention to detail the cleanliness of the rental unit and equipment. They took care of minor requests right away with friendliness and professionalism. If you buy, the unit is warrantied for three years and they send you a unit to use when you send it in for maintenance.
Really can't say enough good things about them.

If you prorate it for the expected lenght of life of the unit, figure it wil last for 30,000 hours...that's three years at constant use.

Oh, by the way, I asked for an extra battery so my cost is slightly inflated.

I hope I've answered your questions!

Thanks for the info. Am in the process of moving, but as soon as we're settled I will look into it. I only use oxygen at night but I'm not secure enough to travel without it. Thanks again. Marie (gogranny)
