So I need to move roller coasters and jet skis to the top of the list lol....gotcha! Luckily, my disc issues are in the thoracic region, so I've lost some height (as if I needed to be any more vertically challenged????) but I can ride things like snowmobiles and atv's without discomfort. Where there's a will, there's a way.
I would love to see this country.....all of it....I'd like to do it by car.....a long slow road trip....and yes I would like very much to have someone with me to enjoy the trip. Someone to share the experience
i like what sunbathermom said. sell the house, don't need all this space for myself anymore, and tour the country by car. i did a short one-month tour last march, so i have an inkling of how great it will be. beyond seeing more of this country i want to see St. Petersburg Russia, the Great Pyramids of Egypt, Jerusalem and the places where Christ walked, the Great Wall of China, Machu Picchu, and return to New Zealand's south island.
Annie's adventure sounds perfect to me, too. I missed my chance to explore this great country with my special someone (and he would have done all the driving!) I will not do it alone - oh sigh.
A hot air balloon ride sounds interesting, but forget parachuting out of a plane!
I get a kick out of adventures. My favorite one is waking up, getting out of bed, and just going for it.
Daily adventures are great. I try to have one every day. Not sure what today's will be yet. Coffee maybe. Starbuck's dark roast. Smells like it's done right now. :-)
Lyn you remided me of Machu Picchu. Definitely high on my list. Get a trip going and I'll sign up! I have been fortunate enough in being able to travel a lot, and also do many other things like balloon rides and parasailing, but it's really the little things that make it fun. Exploring little out of the way places, doing the unexpected, seeing weird and unusual things...and that can be anywhere.
I like Annie's idea, too. Some of my most memorable trips have been driving trips, one up the East Coats from FL to upstate NY in the fall, and the West Coast, from San Diego to Vancouver in the spring, just winging it. No hotel reservations, just a suitcase, a map and a car. More fun that way. Did a Route 66 driving trip, too, and ended up in SD. I'd also like to hike the Grand Canyon before I crump.
I just returned from an amazing solo road trip from Florida to northern California and back, drove almost 11,000 miles in a 17 year-old- van with over 200,000 miles on it and had about $700 in the bank when I got home. I was gone for over nine weeks.
I kept a photo journal on my web site. Take a peek.

Gad, you guys are too much! If you got carsick like I do, you wouldn't want to go on any cross-country road trip, I can tell you that!! And I don't think my lower back would take sitting every day that long. My idea of a vacation is getting to a destination as fast as I can, or going on a cruise, which I have never tried. Hey, HB, ya wanna go on a cruise with me?
