I think the most very important thing is to fill your time with things you love, work you love, and the people you love. (Not necessarily in that order...) This can apply to all of us, in all stages of life. Some folks just get too "caught up" in situations in which they themselves have created for themselves, in one way or another, and end up bitter, sarcasticic and downright lonely.
And hey;BentWing....being a greeter at Walmart....think about it !!! What a great opportunity to meet people, observe people, talk to people, laugh with people...and make some "mad money" at the same time!
I dop miss interacting with others! More isolated now.. hmmmmm
I wouild get fired for monopolizing their time & stopping them from making purchases! :)
I retired ealy in 99 after 33 years, our plant was closing down and I didn't want to be there for the end. They gave me a good retirement and paid for 25% of my health care. Found I didn't like retirement, tried several part time jobs, internet tech, parts driver twice, several dispatch jobs (car parts, salesmen and airport buses) finally ended at a Chrysler dealership, stayed there 5 years,Retired again in 2006 and am now enjoying what ever it is that I do. Somedays at the end of the day not sure what I did all day.
