Genuine Free Registry Cleaner!!!

Due to various requests posted here I have looked often to find a genuine free registry cleaner. And failed!
But I found one yesterday. It actually works and does some other worthwhile things as well. The link is:

There is a paid upgrade for $19.95. If you install, uninstall, move files around, etc. you may find that the paid version will do a little more for you. Among other things it does a deep scan of the registry which can take quite a bit of time, but it may be worth while.

If your system is stable and you seldom add new programs and uninstall old ones, the free version will be more than adequate.

I don't believe in cleaning up the crumbs OldGuy. I know that some programs leave things behind in the registry but their effect is minimal.

Reading advice from this group convinced me CCleaner was a very good choice. Now, no one mentions it anymore. What happened? Am I confusing something?

My opinion of Ccleaner is exactly the same as ASC--too aggressive!

Can someone in plain words tell me what registry cleaner I could use perhaps every 6 months that would not mess with the rest of my pc, would be considered non agressive yet do the job? I'd prefer a free version. I use xp and have malwarebytes anti malware plus ad-aware installed. Thanks guys....

As I said before, Katiee in mu opinion Auslogics makes a very good registry cleaner and it's free. I use on my system and have been doing so for the last year with no problems. You can read about it and safely download from here: CNET Download - Auslogics Registry Cleaner

LsnLrnd, the Registry is the Brains of your system. It controls everything you do and thus, is the most important and valuable component of your system.

Pete will tell you to get a Mac cause a Mac doesn't have a registry, at least one that can be accessed.

For the more formal definition, Wikipedia says:

"The Windows Registry is a database that stores settings and options for Microsoft Windows operating systems. It contains information and settings for hardware, operating system software, most non-operating system software, and per-user settings. The registry also provides a window into the operation of the kernel, exposing runtime information such as performance counters and currently active hardware."

MWR, I installed Auslogics registry like you suggested.
How often do you feel I should run it? Thanks for your help.

Well, I generally run mine whenever I've uninstalled a program to get rid of any traces. Other than that, I don't see having to run it any more than that. But if you want, you can run it once a month if it will make you feel more secure. It won't hurt your computer to run it that often.

I downloaded it, and I really like it. It's good. Of course we all know unless you buy the complete pkg, you don't get all the benefits. The deep scan is really good. It does take some time, but it works well.
