Soldier's Angel

Just thought that you might like to hear about a small way to say a big thank you to the men and women who serve overseas (what ever your thoughts are about our 'military involvements').

I joined a group called Soldier's Angels and got the name of a soldier currently serving in a FOB, Forward Operating Base (I think) in Afghanistan.

I write a letter as though he were already a friend and send some goodies like trail mix, jerky, cards etc. They have a list of things that soldier's might enjoy that come from home. I'd like to think that this young man and the guys he serves with know that someone from home other than their family is taking the time to talk with and thank them for their service.

It costs me little in time or money and I hope means a lot to the soldiers who receive the letters and packages. Hope you'll consider it...........I may be writing to one of your son's.

Thank you to everyone who replied with their own experiences and good thoughts.
Someone also mentioned adopt a soldier and I looked into that and now I also have a soldier in Iraq. So I have all of the combat zones covered and how I wish there were none.

It is good to hear that your son's and daughters all appreciated the letters and packages. Glad for everyone whose loved ones came back safely and prayers for those who are still there.

I've enjoyed hearing your thoughts and experiences.
