At the Heart of Work
From Gary Snyder:
“Removing the Plate of the Pump on the Hydraulic System of the Backhoe.”
Through mud, fouled nuts, black grime
it opens, a gleam of spotless steel
machine-fit perfect
swirl of intake and output
relentless clarity
at the heart
of work.
AJ--I guess that backhoe caught my eye because I've been feeling like one lately, completely foregetting about the spotless steel and relentless clarity inside. Always worth a moment to pull off the pump plate and behold the eternal light inside each one of us! [Thanks MonteGuy. Not sure this is clearer, but maybe?]
