I remember becoming aware of this in my political science classes in high school......but the key is to keep the common man happy....the rich have gone too far in their greed...that will destroy them and their system
I could not agree more about greed gone astray if it ever was a good place for us to be.
Here is a wonderful conversation about the CBS report about the flu and how we are being lied to. It is all about money and to devil with the people. Scare them to death and give them what you want. So what if it does not work and costs a lot. Look at the money we made. Like small pox blankets to Indians. We know that the people will pay in every way. It is shameful

The tea parties in one sense is a great example of what this guy is talking about. The civil rights movement and womens rights are other examples. When people get involved for what ever reason, it causes the elite to get nervous. So they try to control the masses by controlling the issues of the masses. Thus the masses are ignorant to the propaganda that is controlling them. When the subject is health care, the elite and the media try to redirect the focus to unrelated issues and misinformation. An example of this would be when the media ( on behalf of elitist ) trotted out Black ministers to denounce Martin Luther King at the height of the civil rights movement.
However I think that controlling the masses has gotten more difficult since the advent of the INTERNET where people can get instantaneous info.
But even this ( Free ) venue is under attack through a bill by Senator John McCain that would make the freedom of information on the INTERNET less free.
The counter to elitism controlling the masses is the free flow of information, ideas, and education. And not to submit to fear and scare tactics by the elite.
People who say " I want my country back " make me wonder what exactly does that mean. All through history the elite have tried to control people. And all through history people have rose up to over throw the elite.
"People who say " I want my country back " make me wonder what exactly does that mean." Charles
If you figure that out let me know.
My son and his family recently moved into a more rural area near the farm. The small community is a wide spot on the highway and is part of a series of small towns strung along the State road. Most of these communities were established in the early 1800's, not long after statehood was established.
Big shock for this family of six computers (that's number of machines, not users) is that the only ISP they can get right now is dial-up. IMO is there any wonder why people in the 'country' are more prone to believing that Fox is the word from on high? Murdock has nearly 10% of the basic cable programming for television and you can't watch a video on the computer. Talk about controlling the news outlets!
The Internet is serving the same purpose in life today as the movable type printing press did 240 years ago.
