I'd like to thank everyone for their well wishes.

This was the first time asthma has hospitalised me so the experience was something new though not one I wish to go through again in a hurry. I just can't believe how knackered it has left me, just sitting up here in front of the PC typing a few words is almost as much as I can do before I go off and rest, I'm told that this should start to ease over the coming week though, then it's off up my GP for a re-evaluation of how they treat my asthma then a visit to the hospital at the end of November to get more of an overview of why I may have had the attack.

I had several tests whilst in hospital, one of which might determine the cause of the attack though my thoughts are simply it caught me with a cold and at a time when my defences where low, I am usually full of the sniffles all winter and it gets very depressing, along with not having a job I think the two just added up to give the asthma an easy target.

The hardest part for me is I am a smoker but so far I've been a good boy and not smoked since I came out of hospital. Sitting in front of the PC was one of the few places I smoked and enjoyed a coffee whilst catching up with everything and everyone, I just have to keep on to myself that the coffee is just as good, if not better, without that cigarette!

Yes, well smoking will not help you so good luck with trying to quit. Otherwise you know whats in store for you and you dont want to go through that again. You will not believe how much better you will feel in the end. I wish you well................I used to smoke. Gave it up because I could tell what it was doing to me. After a time you wont remember why you liked it. It is a habit not an addiction. You CAN do it. We want you with us for a long time.
The winter sniffles............me too............use honey a lot. That builds the immune system up. Especially the purer honey you can buy these days. Then take vit C and zinc. There are as lot of natural products that boost your immune system up and it does help. Take care of yourself. We look forwards to having you back here with us posting again. We miss you.

Gosh I held my breath reading this post as it helped me imagine an asthma attack.
Luckily for me I have never had one but I used to get colds, sinus infections, strep, etc.,
until I started with the herbs and minerals. I do the zinc lozenges and take echinacea whenever
I feel the need and have been trouble free for the last 12 years. I used to suffer so each winter...
it affected every area of my life and I hated it.

Anyway, everybody stay healthy; avoid close groups during flu season: Plenty of rest and feed your mind and body only nice things. Trevor do get well soon. The group needs your input :-) opk

Quit smoking Trev. I had to when I came down with cancer 11 years ago. Mind you, I was so sick from chemo I didn't know I had stopped. lol

We get our flu shots on Monday, H1N1 shots a couple of weeks afterwards.

I want to encourage you to quit smoking, too, Trevor! Having asthma myself, I can't imagine smoking!! I never have, but everyone else in my family did growing up, so I was around a lot of second-hand smoke. I live alone now, though, so I don't have to worry about it! It's never good for you, but especially not with asthma!!

I'm glad you are back, Trevor, and feeling better. I know how bad asthma can be. My daughter has it and has been in the hospital a couple of times when she was a child and in the emergency room a few times too. You take care of yourself and try your best to make not smoking a permanent thing. Coffee is even better without a cigarette. I know.

Glad you are better. It is hard to quit smoking..but I heard that a craving only lasts about 10 minutes. So that's how I quit..when I got a craving I got busy for 10 minutes and convinced myself I got through it. Good luck and take care of yourself.
