Costa Rica??

I have just been invited to go to Costa Rica. I haven't done all of the research yet, but thought I might tap into some of the best travel folks I know. The place is Flamingo Cove, located in the province of Guanacaste. Has anyone been or does anyone know anything about this area? Is it safe?

I've never been to that specific place. My nephew and I took a trip to Costa Rica last year. I found it to be quite dull when compared to places such as Panama & Guatemala. However, Costa Rica is, perhaps, the safest place to go in Central America. One can even drink the local water in most places.

I've heard that Costa Rica is beautiful and I knew a woman who moved there for her retirement. But I have no personal knowledge of the country. I have read that the Caribbean side is 'safer' than the more populated Pacific side but I don't know where Flamingo Cove or Guanacaste province are.

Please let us know your impressions when you return. I would love to know more about the country.

I have not been to Costa Rica.
I've heard it is very safe, beautiful but I wouldnt drink the water in my own town in the states.
I love adventure so I'm saving costa rica for my 80's. Central and south america are filled with history, culture and beautiful eco sites. Good luck and have fun. I visted most of the beautiful ruins in Mexico and Peru. Guatamala is one place I havent been. I think slightly unstable now, but Americans are usually well protected. If you really want to see a different culture go to the Americas and stay low profile. Its not a resort... and living in the humid jungles is hard for this California girl.
Go...........now....... I've seen Cabo San Lucas, Baja Mexico change from a sleepy fishing villiage (78) to a disfigured landscape filled with air conditioned shopping malls.

There is a member of 50+ singles named tOmas, he lives in Costa Rica. He hasn't been around the last few months, but if you P.M. him you will find him to be about the best possible resource. There are several tomas's....including one from P.R.........but you should be able to locate the correct tOmas easy enough.

I spent 2 weeks in Costa Rica last year with my grandson...It is a beautiful & very safe country...people are very friendly & helpful, Spanish is the native language but most speak enough english as not to be a problem...they are very ecologically conscience & the country is very lush rainforest. Guanacaste is in the north east part I believe. It's a wonderful place if you enjoy tropical flower & fauna & some areas can be quite hilly...check out my pictures on my profile page...most to the tropical ones are Costa Rica.

My college roommate has a small house in Costa Rica. Her niece lives there and she initally started visiting there to just see her. Now she goes several times a year. She just loves it. Her niece and great-nephews speak some Spanish, but my girlfriend doesn't. She is not at all afraid to live there--beautiful beaches, tropical, etc.
