You were one of the very lucky 30% who actually see Denali in the park. We were there in late May and of course after a week of beautiful weather it turned cloudy while we were in Denali Park. But all the wildlife and other great scenery kind of made up for not seeing Denali.
We are hoping for a trip this summer. Hope Denali is better than the last time I was there. No mountain and no animals to speak of. My hubby (and kids, but they don't get to go this time, they were there last time) has not seen the mountain, so I hope it is out when we are there.
I wonder if there's any chart somewhere showing when Denali has been out in past years. We used to figure on cloudy weather in July and August, but that doesn't seem to be true anymore. A chart could help you decide when to go, alaskgirl.
Stunning! Denali shows herself well.
Thanks for sharing, Valley. I used to see Denali only once in a long while from
my bedroom window in Anchorage. Just like the Northern Lights: Every night in the
cold months I would look out my bedroom window before getting in bed to see if the
Aurora was out and every day I looked towards the north to see if McKinley was "out".
Hi, OPK! You're like me. I look for Denali every day. It's out today, but a bank of clouds is coming our way in a day or two.
My husband and I had an appointment on the top floor of a midtown building today, and we had a view of the Chugach and the Kenai Mountains with the sunshine golden through the low mist. Steam was rising from chimneys, the trees were frosty, and the scene was gorgeous. I was listening during the appointment, but looking mainly out the window...Beautiful!
How in the world could you concentrate with a view like that, Valley? You are good with words because I can just about visualize what you describe.
Thanks, bugman, I'm sure it helps that you were just here.
