The Gimp Group - Update

"This group is dedicated to learning and using all of the features in the Gimp software program. Feel free to ask questions here and to display some of your Gimp projects. You can also test out your Gimp projects by posting them at the Post Testing Site. We all learn by doing and sharing. ~gJ

All of the above is from our opening statement and group description. It has been nearly nine months since this group was created and I am totally satisfied with everything I have absorbed in my quest to learn, use and share Gimp. There is not a day that goes by that I am not using Gimp and there are very few days that I am not learning something new from all of the tutorials and forums available online. Lately I have been getting into the advance items of Gimp and I have decided not to spend the energy and time to share that here. The participation and sharing by members here has been very discouraging and the lack of feedback does not inspire me. When I find some tutorials that will help the novice and semi-novice user I will share it here. I am still hoping to have new members who may be more open to creating a dialog here and sharing questions and answers with the group.

I am so happy with my decision to create a menu here, many times I recall a procedure that was done and posted here that I need and it is great to be able to search the menu and use the information.

I know everyone who has joined here had good intentions about learning and using Gimp but for what ever reasons that quest never got pass joining the group. Winter is just ahead of us, I urge you to use this time that you are confined to your homes due to winter to once again begin your quest for knowledge. ~gJ

Oh my.. I have learned many things here. But I also am caring for a friend, working a full time job as a nurse in a VA hospital. Getting on the computer is my sanity. Creating is keeping me sane. I don't use the internet anymore like I used to. This group is quieter, but please don't be discouraged. Please forgive me for not being more vocal. I'm glad you have started this group and dug deep to provide the information. There is a lot of "meat" in this program. Thank you for your time, that I only wish I had to do what you've been able to do. Without that information, I wouldn't have downloaded the program again.

I agree with mawgwet you have been an inspiration to me. I have not had the time to devote to Gimp. I work on line and at the end of the day all want to do is walk away. Your Gimp posts are the only posts I save. I think all the time how someday I will have time and you will be there.
You have given me so much knowledge - Thank you. I have all your posts saved so until I outgrow them I will be thankful for what I have.
I promise to work over the winter and send you something.

I appreciate, all you do for the eons community, I joined, this group, and have picked up a few ideas, I have been using the same photoeditor, for seven years, and still learn something new, very often.
I decided why reinvent the wheel, my editor can do anything I can dream up. It is an old program and mostly manual, but I do have control of every pixel, and have a lot of fun with it..
I'm changing one of my pc over to linux, (Ubuntu), and I'll have to find a photoeditor for it.

not a lot to choose from.

This is a wonderful and powerful tool to use and I have so much to learn and not nearly enough time. Working full time doesn't leave me as much time during the week days but I am on here a good bit of time on the weekends. Mostly I have been in some groups other than here but after finding this one, I will no doubt try to be on here more. I just started scanning old photos into the computer to send to all the family . With this software, I hope to be able to do what you have done Gary, and that is to learn how to restore some of the very old ones. There are some that I will definitely play around with and enhance through this software. It has so many options that I don't believe I will ever be able to find them all... Thank you for opening this group as it is just what I needed to learn. I am one that learns better from 'doing' rather than just reading. These tutorials give you both, the written and some of them with the vocal...

I found a series of five video tutorials that may help you out GoldenLeaves. I will post them in a new post.

Thank you, I will be looking forward to them. I have some very old photos that are yellow now... strange but that's the overall color so it will be very interesting to see if I can do what you did in another post with your reddish picture that you 'brought back' to looking more natural.
