ROLL CALL OCTOBER 25

Good morning folks,

Happy Sunday! It's time to check in and get weighed, no wait, that's Weight Watchers...LOL.
It's time to check in and let us know ho goes the battle between good and evil. For the quitters who are keeping their quits going strong, we salute you.
For the smokers (including me), what are you doing to get this monkey off your back for good?
The one thing I did was changed brands of cigarettes. $6.94 a pack was just too high a price to pay. So I switched to this AWFUL brand that costs $3.30 but leaves a taste in your mouth like you've been smoking seaweed or gunk. ewwwww
I also cut way down on smoking, so I can make a pack last a couple days days now. I'm going to go back to my doctor's plan of smoking one less cigarette every day. If you smoke 12 cigarettes today, tomorrow you smoke 11, the next day you smoke 10. He swears it works. I have done it a couple times but always crap out when I get down to 5 a day. But I'm going to give it another try.
I am not going into the year 2010 as a smoker!

Check in and let us know what's happening. Not just with smoking, but it's nice to hear what you've all been doing too. The holidays are coming, got plans?

StarNana, I thought about you when that news story came out about the deaths in a sweat lodge. Gosh, what a horrible thing to happen! I hope and pray you are ok and nobody you know was killed.

Have a great Sunday and CHECK IN!!!!!

well I am a little better in some ways than I was last week, and in some ways I am not. But one thing for sure is that after my stumble about 2 weeks ago, I have stayed on the smoke free road since then. It's not easy thats for sure!! Still having some personal/emotional struggles I am trying to understand and that is not helping me. Also noticed lately I have been having some issues with what I can only explain as feeling as though I am having hot flashes?? Whats up with that?? I went down that road about 10 years ago! Don't know if it has anything to do with my stumble and having to work harder to stay on my quit, or something else. Any ideas anyone?

Awww Red, I'm so sorry about your stumble. I must have missed that news! We're just never really safe, are we? It's the hardest thing in the world to do and forever we have to be vigilant or the demon insinuates himself back into our lives.
Hang in there and I'm so glad you got right back up on the horse....keep going...eye on the prize!

Hot flashes...I went through them in y late 30's after a hysterectomy. I've been on hormone replacement drugs since and yet to this day, I still have hot flashes. Living in Florida, I go outside and almost immediately, my scalp starts sweating. It's just miserable.
If you are on hormones, you might need a little adjustment?

Hi Deb, Thank you for thinking about me in connection with the sweat lodge. I'm fine & I certainly feel for those that died in the lodge. Do know that the person running the lodge should have NEVER charged for the ceremony. That is a gift from Grandfather & the person that runs the lodge should have know that NO ONE ever charges for their services. I can say that when I was in the lodge a week ago and then again last Thursday, prayers were offered for those that died. Do want to toot my own horn a little bit. It has now been over 16 months since I have had a cigarette. Hope I never have to quit again. Once was enough. Love & hugs to all, Star Nana

I'm so glad you're all doing so well, and Star Nana, I'm really glad to see you here...I was worried.

twin0911...I cannot wait to celebrate your 1 year quit! You rock!!!

Jim...yeah! You're doing so well and I know how hard it is when you are around smokers all the time. You are an inspiration.

C'mon people...roll call is for everybody, whether you've quit or not. It's how we build a caring community and that gives us the support we need to be free from nicotine.

I R here. Everyone seems a little more upbeat this week!! No quit date picked or planned for that matter, but I haven't given up hope for the "will" to come and stay strong. I did get back on my tredmill. I seem to be bouting with fatigue some and hope the exercise will cure that while dropping a few pounds. Hubby has eye surgery on Wednesday to try and repair a macular hole.... Please wish him well.
"Time is flying" for you non-smokers, 'cuz you're having fun!!!!!!!
Thanks again to all for being here.

16 months strong. Cannot yet believe it. Still think about it when going to visit some people and then again cannot stand the smell. Hope I never give in again. My life is so different now without smoking. I just had to decide not to smoke each and every day and it worked. Still making those decisions. Good luck to all. kathleen

I thought I posted?

IR here 2!
Saturday was 5 months smoke free! Y-a-a-a-a-aY!!!
I can hardly believe it I'm doing it! Well, *I'm* really not -- it's WE! I couldn't have gotten here without all of YOU, and everyone else who has encouraged, listened, scolded, held my hand, etc, during this time.

Redhead -- I've got a quit-friend here who stumbled (1 cig), and got right back up again. She's now got 21 days! That's a record for her.

StarNana said it -- I hope I never have to quit again.

Love to all,
Marsha

I'm sorry it has taken me this long to get back on here but as most of u know we have been taking care of our Father and last Tue. Morning about 6:25AM I found him it looked like he died around 4:30 or so in the morning. It was pain free he passed in his sleep.
On to other more pleasing news it is Day 570 on the ole quit meter.
LOVE YA'LL K(keep)T(the)Q(quit)
