Christmas ornaments

Hi, Everyone,

Sorry that I haven't posted in a while. Just busy. I've finished the first three of a dozen little ornaments I'm making for small Christmas gifts.

They are 3 1/2 inches from top to bottom - about as mini as I get. I'm going to tuck them into cards for colleagues at the library and a few other friends. Have you noticed that people who find out that you quilt all seem to be waiting for THEIR quilt? I'm hoping that this gesture will get me off the hook.

I joined the Evening Star Quilters' Guild in Belvidere, NJ. Today was their biannual show, so I helped to set up last night and got to be a white glove lady today. I had assumed that being a white glove lady was a coveted job that I wouldn't see until 2025, but it seems that being on one's feet for a three-hour shift isn't everyone's idea of a good time. Lucky me! The quilts were amazing, and yours truly got to touch them all (through the white cotton gloves, of course).

Take care, everyone,
Ellen

Ellen,

You know, they look pretty intricate for 3 1/2". That would be plenty small for me. They're so cheerful. They'll look really pretty on everyone's tree.

Do make sure you let them know how hard they were to make so they don't ask for anything bigger.

Those are so adorable. What a nice idea.

You're right, of course. The minute people know that I quilt those who don't sew at all start angling for one. They have no idea the volume of work involved. I agree with Ginny. Make sure they know this wasn't just a quick five minutes before supper.

At one of the large shows here, being a white glove person for three hours gets you into the show free and gets you a free lunch. So at least around here it's a pretty good volunteer opportunity if you can spend the time.

Oh, so you make mini quilt ornaments! When will I get mine? Just kidding. I know what you mean about quilt requests. Sometimes I offer to teach them how to make their own. So far, no takers; but I really would be willing to teach them. It would be fun.

Your ornaments are beautiful and making 36 of them is a lot of work. I love the fabrics and pattern you chose. I'm sure everyone will appreciate your effort even though most won't know what's involved. Be sure to make a few for your own tree, too.

Very nice ornaments. Sometimes small is more work than larger! I'm like Diane and would like to teach them rather than just give to someone that has no clue. I am teaching one gal to quilt and it is really rewarding to see her spread her wings. Bought her first good machine this week. The 31st I am teaching a One Fabric Quilt Class for guild. Another gal is teaching a Crazy 8 Jacket at the same place so we should have a good time.

OMG - YOU'RE A JERSEY GIRL TOO!! HOW TERRIFIC!! I have to keep up with going ons better - I would love to have seen the quilt show -I'm in Morris County it would have been an easy visit!!

I'm finishing (after several years) a t-shirt quilt for my daughter. Both my niece (whom I adore) and a co-worker (who i work with?) have dropped hints about their daughters t-shirts. I've offered to help both of them if they gather the t-shirts together. And I think this could be fun. I don't think I'll hold my breath.

I love the ornaments and they may be the answer to the fact that I wanted to do something for my fellow counselors but couldn't decide what. Thanks - Debbie

Try Googling "quilted ornament patterns" and see what you get, nana2three.

These were cute but you have to join to get the pattern:

You can probably figure out how to make them yourself though. Here's another site I found. Just scroll down to the ornaments:
