Things XP does that Vista doesn't

I have a new Dell laptop with Vista premium. My Toshiba laptop talks to a printer connected to the desktop computer as long as the driver is on the Toshiba. Vista won't load the driver. I can connect the printer directly and Vista downloads drivers for it. Doesn't help in seeing the same printer on the network. I'm not going any further with this until 7 arrives. A video capture box works fine with XP but capture doesn't work using Vista even with downloaded signed drivers.
Text editing of a website can be done using XP but not with Vista.
The Dell is a Inspiron 1545. No 1394 port. Built in sound quality is poor.

I got a fix from MS for the file copy problem. The printer will have to wait until I install 7. Canon has an updated driver so I hope that will do it.

I got a printer fix. You have to have the name of the computer where the printer is connected. You also need to determine the name that computer uses for the printer. These can both be found using properties. On the Vista computer you do an add printer. Chose local printer. Click on create new port. Select local port then next. Enter //computer_name/printer name. If it takes it then it should offer to print a test page to check it out. All this from finding a query at the Microsoft site similar to mine.
