The coming Roland Emmerich doomsday disaster movie 2012 coming out on Friday 13th (by design) has stirred significant concern and controversy. Could it be we have passed the time of play and "entertainment"? And we had better shift our thinking from "scare me -scare me", to serious measured preparation.
As I have said over the years, and never more important than now (and the next few years) --- there will be frauds, pranksters, and charlatans coming out of the woodwork of which some are smart enough to cover themselves by calling it "entertainment". It is more important now than ever before to use our gift of discernment -- And for the more educated, our "learned skill" of critical thinking. Needless to say no one can deny the reckless ventures of some radio personalities, authors, and various mystics etc. have made this task ever more difficult.
The greatest danger in the times ahead will be our ability to sift through fact from fiction. It becomes ever so complicated when half-truths are dispersed and the messenger does not clarify tangible facts from 'conjecture'. There is nothing wrong with a persons conjecture or "hunch" as long as it is clarified as such.
One teenager wrote to Morrison that he'd rather commit suicide than see the world destroyed. Many of the letters, Morrison says, presume that the government is covering up the imminent catastrophe. Letters begin, "I know you can't tell me the truth, but ..."
On this issue I would have to agree with Mr. Morrison (which is not always the case; we have had our battles in the past). I too have received similar emails with a tone of desperation from people thinking the world will come to an end in 2012. Simply put --- IT WILL NOT.
Having said this -- I do believe we will see an escalation in earth changing events as solar cycle 24 ramps up in late 2010 and into 2011. Cycle 24's apex or "maximum" does in fact occur in late 2012, and it is my belief the Mayans knew this.
Will significant events occur over the next few years? Yes. Is it the end of the world with everybody dying? NO. It is the end of one cycle and the beginning of another. Will there be fatalities as a result of the changes ahead? Yes. Just as it has been through the history of the world, but it is not the 'end of the world'. And with the knowledge we have of the shifts ahead, we can better prepare. Prophecy is NOT a nail in the coffin; it is a message "to change the outcome".
As Nostradamus once said: "A fulfilled prophecy is a failed prophecy".
In an article published in the latest issue of Skeptic magazine, Morrison explains that the 2012 Doomsday scenarios represent a convergence of New Age mysticism and Hollywood opportunism. It is, in short, a hoax. I do not fully agree with Morrison's statement; however it does highlight our need to be ever so diligent with what comes across our computer screens.

SS, I was told, by Rob Norgrin(Susan`s husband) that he saw ALLl of what will happen in 2012 and that my part of the world, South TX, would be totally destroyed. He said we should move to the middle US. He didn`t tell me how I would pay for that!!! LOL I will just sit and wait. That`s all I CAN do.

I believe that we must prepare ourselves Spiritually for the changes that will occur in the next few years. I don't believe that it will be the end of the World - rather and end to the present Systems that have been put in place by Man. I also believe that there will be Areas of Refuge for the suvivors of the Earth changes! I believe that I live in one of them - Southern Colorado/Northern New Mexico!

Very interesting SS. Without knowing for sure I say always be prepared, trust your gut feelings. I still don't think anyone knows all, that will happen at any time. Too many varibles.
I'm with you SS. What is going to happen is a life changing event. It will be world wide but it is NOT the END of the world. Things that have started to change will become much more noticeable. There have been doomsday predictions in every era. This one will just be added. Although, at our age, we've seen many doomsdays that never materialized.
Remember that a fulfilled prophecy is a failed prophecy. Also that our thoughts become our reality. So if you are in a place that might be adversely affected by earth changes, but you keep good intentions and good thoughts going, you could change the prophecy of destruction for your area. That's what some Native people are explaining, as they acknowledge there are many earth changing events ahead for the world. But we can change them or at least cause them to be less severe through properly focused thoughts.
But 2012 is not the end of the world. It is the beginning of a new system and we can focus on that being a good thing for us.
Perhaps if all individuals would concentrate their thought on 2012 positive notions about their specific future---2012 positive affirmations for our world & planet, then the Universe would acknowledge that vibration rather than the ones formed from the fear of "what might happen". Universe hears with might Ears!
Human error is going to cause the changes on this earth on Dec 21st, 2012. Human error done by those in Government or another Government in the World. For a science teacher once told me that if you screw with Mother Nature, you will die.

Something is going to occur that is going to shock non-believers into fear or to open their eyes. A miracle will happen!!!! Have cameras ready.
I have no doubts or fears of 2012, it is what it is and noone can stop it from happening unless they want to put us into the dark ages again of the past. It will happen with fanfaire or be just another day - all it is - is the polar shift from South to North. We will have weather changes when that occurs and alot of changes in Nature will take place, but as to kill all on earth, don't think so.
You can only be prepared some what and then what you prepared for will change and you will have to leave all that behind you with one suitcase like a woman I see every Sunday at a restaurant we go to, once in awhile. A woman whose only possessions are in one suitcase. You may have to walk, not drive at that time, so be prepared for that - may I suggest a wagon. Not a bad idea!
Does anyone realize that the Mayans calendar actually went into the 4000's? Yep. The calendar that they mention only was a partial piece even. I used to say if the calendar ended, then there was no one to continue making it. Duh, the Mayans are no longer a group. They integrated with other tribes, for reasons unknown. I think they are still here but we call them something else now. I do not believe that they all died. The Spaniards brought many diseases to them and many died, but some did not. I will bet that they didn't want the "stigma" of being a Mayan so they just kept quiet. That was the way life was way back then. This is my own opinion so please don't take this as fact. The part about the calendar is true though.
Saw a program last night on the History channel that said that the Mayans who still exist aren't fearful of what is to come on 2012, they are living their lives to the fullest everyday and they showed a picture of them.
What NASA said is if anything happens, it will be caused by the sun and every Electric power grid made and being built by people who only think that this country should be run by Electricity are going to be in for a shock when every grid is gone of Electric power by the sun's storms that will enter our Universe in 2012. Anarchy will reign and only can goods will be eaten, for food within your refrigerator will be rotten after afew days. Be prepared for that for they think that is going to happen and it will not take a day to get it up and running in all countries of the world, it will take 4 to 10 years. Prepare for it! Then people will see what it is like living in other countries of the world without Electric - even Cars will stop.
