Sounds like a pretty cool Friday to me, Barb. Too bad I have to take off for work shortly...LOL! Oh well, retirement is only 3 1/2 years away...
Errands for me on this rainy Friday. I'm almost finished with Brimstone another in the Pendergast series. We're chasing "the devil" around Italy right now!
I had given The Help to a friend & she has graciously loaned it back to me. She loved it. That will become my treadmill book!
I'm going by the used book store today - I could have SWORN I had Still Life, the first in the Three Pines, Louise Penny books. I've got Brutal Telling coming from Amazon but I really wanted to re-read them from the first before I read it.
A very rainy, cold, dismal day in Columbus, OH. Currently reading, "The Scarecrow" by Michael Connelly. So far, it is an enjoyable read. A couple different story lines that will come together by the end of the book.
Also have, "South of Broad" for my bookclub. Haven't started it yet. Some of the reviews I read were not too favorable. We'll see.
Sunny and 40 deg. in Portland, Maine - going to get in a walk before the big rain storm tomorrow. The foliage is past peak now and many of the leaves will be history after the sou'easter rips through. And I have Gerry Boyle's Port City Shakedown to finish - a detective thriller introducing protagonist Brandon Blake and situated in Portland, so it's a hometown story. Not too bad so far.

djmhart, one of my sisters is a Sudoku addict - anyway, she used to be. I have tried it a few times and ended up pretty frustrated... good luck and have fun!
djmhart, saw on the news this morning that a CA woman won the contest and moves on, I sure didn't know there was a National Sudoku team! How did you do?
After a rainy Sat., Sunday south of Purcellville, Virginia, is sunny, gorgeous with brilliant fall foliage. I'm looking out at lake with geese lazily paddling, and a couple horses grazing in pasture. Too beautiful for words!

I really miss that down here in Florida. We don't get the brilliant fall colors here that colder climates get. The fall was/is my favorite time of the year. When I was growing up in N.Y., it was a time of frenzied work to store away as much of the harvest bounty as we could in order to last us through the winter months. At the time, I didn't appreciate the work so much, but looking back on it now, I love the remembered taste of those wonderful jars of fruits, vegies, jams, jellies, and yummy pickles. I don't do much of that anymore because as times changed andproduce became more available year round, it became less expensive just to buy things at the store or a local produce market. I still like to make a few special jams etc. ea. year, but it is mainly used as gifts now, or special occasions...
