Pain Management - - - Who Knew?

Ihad my appointment yeterday with my family doctor and he said he is so happy with the success of the sleep mask and feel it is really helping me. He asked about my pain level sand how I was managing it.

Managing, I wondered. Well. when I feel good Itry to do what I can. When I don't feel good, and am really having a flare-up, I don't do anything.

Now that, he says with a twinkle in his eye, is pain managememet.

Some people never learn that simple lesson, he said.

Who knew?

Isn't that we all do, ultimately, for "pain management"? We all can only do on any given day what our pain and fatigue levels allow us to do, and if we're smart, we try not to overdo on the "good" days. Who knew that a doctor would consider that "pain management"?

Yes I guess we do live that way, now!

Funny, having to pay a professional to agree with that statement. Common sense?

This is exactly what I do during a flare up. And maybe some pain meds. Lucky for me, I don't have too many of them.

You guys are absolutely 100% right. I don't know if my doctor was being cute or serious when he said I had mastered the concept of pain management.

Makes sense, although some days I'm not smart about it and push too far. If I have something to do 3 days in a row, by the second day I'm thinking "only one more day and I can have a down day." I mean, somtimes that's what it takes to get through, just counting on that day, even if it's something fun. I admire those of you who still have the intestinal fortitude to keep working, I know some don't have a choice, and I know if it meant the difference between eating or not, I would do what I must, but it would kill me and my spirit. This is a rough ride we've been dealt, and I'm grateful every day for the fact that I can still manage in my home at least, and can tackle the outside world when I need to.
