Although not particularly with a Catholic theme, the movie "Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison" with Robert Mitchum touches the heart. A nun and a U.S. Marine are marooned on a Pacific island during WWII.
Oh, gorilla, that is another of my favorite movies. Mitchum and Debra Kerr were great in it.
guess because i was in a catholic school and hearing about all that all the time, did not pay attention to it in old movies till i got ill and am stuck home . watching the old movies on tv now had got me to thinking. do not remember so many movies tossing catholic themes in there.
Loved "Heaven Knows Mr. Allison" One of my all time favorites.
I love" Heaven knows Mr. Allison". It was good for a cry any day. I liked Micky Rooney in "Boystown" and Bing Crosby in " The Bells of St. Mary's", and "The Nuns Story", and Whoopi in ? old age blank, you know, and "Come to the Stable" and "Bernadette" and "The Robe" and "The Ten Commandments" with Charleston Heston, and I know I missed some.
Loved all those movies, too, and the Whoopi movies of recent vintage--Sister Act and Sister Act II. I love the Whoopi movies b/c of the music. I, too, know there are others, but these are probably the best (the ones named in the previous response are true classics and worth seeing over and over again.)
