Is LOST a Rip Off of the New People?(1969-ABC)

Does anyone remember this show? The New People ran on ABC from Sept 1969 to January 1970. Short run...But it left a big impression! Okay, plane crash (check!),
survivors (check!), an island that has the Dharma initiative groove going on, you know buildings abandoned (check!)! Hmmmm that's what I thought. I was 13 when this show came on and I loved it!

LOST reminded of this show from day one! Only difference---The New People had a catchy theme song!

OK! Now you got my attention. I don't remember this series, but you have a good point. Lost could be a recycled version of this show, only done better.

I'm going to try to find out or better than that I will ask DameFalke.

That is wild, for I do not remember the show at all. But the premise is familiar to say the least from the show.

Since I have been fighting this cough for three days now, today I have felt the worst of any of the days. 8-(

But I'll have to do some digging as well.

I do remember this show and liked it. Too bad it didn't last very long. I didn't realize how similar it was to Lost, another favorite of mine.

It was the coolest show. I would love to get the theme song. I think it was by Kenny Rogers and the First Edition.

Funny how something old is new again with television. Just wait a few years start fresh with new ideas and get some drama really built up and have the name J. J. Abrams attached and what died is now a hit for the network. Go figure, eh?

Seems like nearly every show that is on, okay new shows the last 3 - 4 years have had it's roots come from another show that died a fairly quick death on TV land.

How DO you find these things RS? I'd never heard of this until you sent me the video and the only thing I can think is that in 1969 I worked at night and there were no VCR's. But it certainly does seem like Lost is based on the premise of this show but like DDHJ said, better.
