The less than regal end of William the Conqueror

We are taught about the " great" deeds of many figures in history , but most often we hear virtually nothing about the rest of their lives . I recently watched a show on cable about William the Conqueror ( either the Biography or History channel ) .

Hey, I have my own version of English and I stick with it. How can I be expected to learn English English and then American English when English English was already confusing enough. ya know??????

Hunh? While tenses while with what is was what we say anyway. But that doesn't mean what was is is when what was is what is. Say what?

And wasn't William the Conqueror A Norman? Not an Anglo-Saxon? Which means he probably spoke French and not English, anyway??

Just be glad you don't have to learn Australian English! Then the Mort would really be puttin' the Blacksmith on ya!
