The End of Fox News?

Greta Van Susteren took to both her blog and her program Monday to fight back against claims made against Fox News.

Van Susteren wrote a long response on GretaWire to Jacob Weisberg's Newsweek article calling Fox News un-American.

Now, un-American?" she wrote. "First it was that Fox is not a news organization...and now? now Fox is un-american? Really, un-american??? (Then she acted like a NeoCon moron when she screeched, "Tomorrow I fear I will be asked to register as a sex offender...what in the world happened last week while I was traveling in North Korea? What unglued everyone?)"

Van Susteren then made sure to explicitly state that her program, "On the Record," was not mentioned in the article because it is a legitimate news program.

I don't know about that, she got very opinionated reporting Republican Propaganda instead of reporting the news just before last November.

And what is your point LLL?

Fox will be around long after this Administration is gone in 3 years or so., at least they have an agenda and a plan of action...right or wrong, they are doing something.

What are they doing though; something good for us or something bad?
Is it good for them; or bad too?

Those looking for real debate or analysis only get one-sided propaganda disguised as news from O'Reilly, Hannity, Beck, etc.

My point is now MSM is declaring them the cheapest sort of cheats -- that's going to hurt their advertising more than it already has in the last month.

I think the critics should differentiate FOX Cable from FOX TV though; FOX TV is very reputable -- I watch every morning.

I don't watch Hannity regularly, I think he's very pro - "Right"...which is his deal, that's what he does and he has his audience. Just as Olbermenn is pro-"left" on MSNBC....I don't frequent his show either. Beck is a nut on Fox as Maddows is a script reader on MSNBC...don't watch either of them to any extent. But there are shows on Fox news that are unbiased, I don't see that on MSNBC....NBC is a biased network overall more so than Fox broadcasting is.

Whether these broadcasters are doing good or not depends on what end of the spectrum you sit on. From what I see, the ratings seem to favor Fox news...right or wrong. And all this focus on Fox news will ultimately help them and cheapen the Administration as they appear to be childish to their approach to opposition.

I'm not familiar with Greta Van Susteren's work except in the most casual of ways so I spent some time reading about her today. I learned that she is a Scientologist. How does that affect her credibility; or does it?

She seems to be very credible from what I have seen. Does not appear to have an agenda and is generally unbiased.

Exactly, LLL

Say what you want on TV. However, you don't get to call it news if it isn't. Opinion pieces are fine .... just say that's what it is.

You make a very good point about differentiating FOX Cable from FOX TV. My local Fox TV has some pretty good news and programming. Fox Cable is straying from news into pure propaganda, lies, mixed in with delusion and corporate salt peter.

I only know of Greta Van Susteren via her Palin-pushing and as one of Keith Olbermann's "worst persons in the world", merlins. Her hubby was a Palin consultant.

Personally, I tend to dismiss most folks that follow cults .... whether it be Mormon, Scientology, The Family, Hari Krishnas, etc.

The only Mormon I have found to be credible so far is dead. The stellar investigative journalist, Jack Anderson was a Mormon. I forgave him.

How about the Christian, Catholic and Jewish cults ?

Cults? Catholics are the first Christians and the first Catholics were Jews. 1st Century Roman and Greek God worshippers were entitled to call Judeo-Christianity a cult but any Christian that calls a Catholic, Mormon, or a Jew a cult today is so narcissistic as to be deemed a serious personal mental problem. In English, they’re full of (meaning left up to the reader).

What's your point Panch?

Panch, there's a little thing called fact checking! Fox Cable evidently employs no fact checkers, while Keith and Rachel are obviously liberal, they do check facts!

I think our friend, Panch ... simply wants attention and doesn't seem to contribute much to discussions here.

yes, torry ~ Keith and Rachel check facts .... something I don't see in many of MSNBC's news reports ... where they simply follow the kind of of researched AP newswire. I left MSNBC on while I was in the kitchen and realized they spent 45 minutes covering that stupid balloon boy story. I'm grateful for Democracy Now! and investigative journalists like Jeremy Scahill, Greg Palast, Thom Hartmann, Dhair Jamal, Naomi, Klein, etc.
