I wonder how many chocolate chip cookies that is.

I have a friend who just turned 70 and two weeks ago lost her husband of 50+ years to a massive heart attack( he was very ill). Well she also has her mother living with her and I bake Grandma home made chocolate chip cookies(no, not the tube stuff). Well Barb would buy me butter and chocolate chips so I can make the cookies for Grandma. I stopped by her house tonight and she had been to Costco and she had a pack of 4 pounds of butter which is her usual but she also had two bags of Chocolate Chips, again not a problem except each one is ***4 pounds 8 ounces****. I guess Grandma wants a lot more cookies, what do you think???LOL
Grandma takes the cookies into her room and is very picky with whom she shares her cookies. Barb figures what the heck she is already 90 so she might as well enjoy herself. She also started smoking again when she turned 80 but Barb makes her go outside and smoke--"No Smoking In The House"

I hope and pray that I will be able to live that long--so I guess I better stop tasting those cookies when I make them.

yeah Wolfi, u'll be big as a house! but what fun to have someone love them so much that only you can bake them for her, what an honor also!

I use to enter them in the state fairs here in CT. and it was the hardest competition, cos even if you don't bake, you bake chocolate chip cookies. The comp. was hard, so many entries, BUT I did come out with blue ribbons. One year I had run out of vanilla and used 1/2 tsp. almond extract (pure of course) and when I went up to pick them up the night after the judging, I couldn't find them. Seems like instead of cookies, I got a little manilla envelop with 3 dollars in it and the blue ribbon attached to it!! The judges ate them! lol.

One day at work, I brought in a batch for breakfast and went to the corner for my usual coffee run. When I got back, I asked the boss where the cookies were, and they said they were all gone. Just said thanx for eating MY breakfast (pre-diabetes, lol)! A whole batch, like, what 4 doz. gone within 10 minutes. They had to run out and get me a corn muffin to go with my coffee. Ah, firemen, can they eat!!!!!

1 more story, I promise! I had brought in a platter of stuff from a party we had at home the night before. My sister-in-law baked that batch and with everything else, they sat on the table. The Fire Marshal came in and took one and said, "These aren't your cookies!" I asked him what he meant, and he said, "These aren't yours, these are lousy!" lol. Fessed up they weren't mine but hers.

Moral to these stupid stories: It makes us feel good to know that someone appreciates all the hard work you put into your baking/crafts or whatever.

Good going Mike, you're making a little old lady very happy, lot of work, but happy!!

Oh I agree Anne. I don't have much so I bake for friends when something is needed. When Barb's husband sick I made Bagels for the family that came into town and after he died I made more bagels and Challah bread for them to serve after the funeral. Even the Rabbi was impressed by my bagels and Challah :^))
