2012: Not The End Of The World

" The notion that 2012 heralds the End of Time has something to do with a mysterious Planet X that will supposedly hurtle into, or perhaps merely perturb, Earth. Also, there might be geomagnetic storms, a Pole Reversal, and a newfound unsteadiness in the planet's crustal plates. "

I expect 2012 to be at least as catastrophic as the Y2K Armageddon. KC

Does the world end when you reach the last page of the annual calendar? The Mayans believed in cycles. The current cycle ends in 2012 according to a single copy of a Mayan calendar stone. The Mayans themselves consider the whole thing insulting. They say every cycle change is an opportunity for change. Much like making New Year resolutions. They view the stone as just another calendar - without the monthly centerfold.

As to the polar shift (a magnetic rather than planetary shift), that is already in progress. Has been for about a decade. Might be responsible for the polar melting since it would affect the flow of magma. No one really knows since there was no one around to record the last one. An increase in tectonic activity would be a natural consequence of a too swift shift in polarity since they are triggered by shifts in magma flows.

The perturbations of the planetary orbits by an approaching extrasolar object has been projected for millenia. It has been viewed as a potential real-life threat since someone posited that it was the cause of the death of the dinosaur world. We actually have entities working on shooting such an object out of its trajectory - not just a bit of Hollywood fluff, real projects.

Our pitch of 23 degrees is also supposed to shift a degree or two, according to the doomsayers. This would severely impact climate, length of day, ocean tides and a host of other surface activity. Such a shift is beyond unlikely.

I'm with the Mayans on this one: just because you came to the end of the calendar doesn't mean you have come to the End of Time.

Kerry, "at least as catastrophic"??? LMAO! I'm still trying to figure out by what exponent they are going to wig out compared to Y2K. One thing is for sure: Y2K was NOTHING compared to the paranoia that's brewing over the end of the Mayan calender! And as I actually had a distant, non-blood relative build a bomb shelter and stock up for 50 years ... I am telling all of them to remember what asses they made of themselves in 1999 to prevent them from joining in with the next level of psychotic hype.

Perm, excellent info, although (IMO) it is the astrological/astronomical shifts that are what's behind the cycles and climate change and vibrational frequency access, et. al. This end of cycle is one of the biggies because the heavenly changes are biggies. Dontcha just love scientific lingo? ;)

The movie looks great! I just don't think this will happen in real life!

I remember seeing "When Worlds Collide" when I was a kid. It had more holes than a slice of swiss cheese. I hope "2012" is better and not just in the technical sense.

Did Nostramdamus predict the world would end in 2012?

The way Nostradamus wrote, he could predict practically anything. Same with astrologers. They don't know, so they write in general terms to avoid being pinned down.

I don't believe it will be the end of the world but it will bring about change to the existing way of life as we know it. Thank goodness I am ready for peace!
