So you think liberals limit others' freedom??!!

I've listened to right wing women whine for years about convenience. Living involves give and take and Western democracy is based on giving up some so-called "rights" in order to guarantee the freedom, safety and health of all.

All those who counter the environmental movement fail to realize that. All those who say This is America, I can do what I want (the mental and emotional two year olds that spew their nonsense here on eons and elsewhere).

When I was a political science major in the late 60s, the principles of western democracy (traditional liberalism) were defined by two sentences: My right to swing my fist ends where your nose begins. When two rights are in conflict, one is not a right.

So, there are jerks and fatsos across the country that have made hanging laundry out to dry illegal.

Track them down! Why should those amoral jerks prevent correct thinking folks from saving money and protecting the environment?

From the article:
Using an electric clothes drier can account for up to 10% of a household's total energy use, and the EPA and other environmental organizations concerned with energy conservation and energy efficiency have been telling people to purchase Energy Star appliances for years. While this is a good idea on paper, many people aren't financially able to simply go out and upgrade to a fancy new washer and dryer. However, they are being told they can't have simple outdoor clotheslines, which are much cheaper and carbon neutral.

Richard Monson, the president of the California Association of Homeowners Associations, told Legal Affairs magazine that a clothesline in a neighborhood can lower property values by 15 percent: "Modern homeowners don't like people's underwear in public. It's just unsightly."

Probably the same jerks that outlawed public hangings! Free entertainment, and a lot cheaper than lethal injection! Maybe they all have a rope phobia!

Hey, the prices are already low in the great state of Californication, so they just want to complain. I just wish I had stayed another year and sold my house for a $450,000 capitol gains instead of $100,000 and after taxes and bills, got $60,000. O'well, it was great while it lasted, now I have the new Solar Dryer, here in AZ.

because of the energy they use. makes sense to me.

I could hang laundry here especially but so far I've been too lazy and have used my (Energy Star) dryer. I think next year I may put up some lines and try it out.

What is the correlation between liberals & conservatives and not allowing air drying clothes? Snobbery trancends politcal views.

I think they try. But I think there are people with other political views who would like to limit freedoms.

Moral of the laundry thing - check out restrictions that exist in any neighborhood you wish to move into.

Some of the climate change stuff that I have heard gets REALLY weird. Like the cow fart tax and requirments on all the upgrades you have to make on your house before you can sell it. And it is true that people who support these things may also be inclined to support stuff like the outdoor laundry ban. How about Al Gore's house, cars, planes, etc? People like him get all tangled up in their hypocrisy.

I used to have to hang out the laundry for my mom. It's a pain in the butt. Also, there's still enough pollution in the air that I wouldn't want to sleep on really wrinkled, polluted sheets and have t-shirts and sweatshirts with big hang marks in them. Today's clothes are not made of the type materials to hang them to dry, unless you hang them double over a line and wait for a couple of days for them to dry.

It's been years since I've seen clothes line poles in the stores. You know the round tubular steel T bar type. My laundry room is not conveniently located to my backyard but I'd be willing to give it a shot in the few short months of summer that we have here in Michigan.

This is absurd. I wonder how liberals dried their dainties before dryers were invented. They sure do limit our freedoms right down to their "spend and tax" policy. Liberals Piss Me Off!!!!
