Ruger Super Redhawk .44 Magnum south of $600, but can't remember exactly
Springfield Armory XD45 .45 ACP (13+1) also south of $600
Bought a Beretta 92FS 9mm about 10 years ago and saw wone in a flyer for about the mid $500
ALL of these are of much higher quality than the nut shooting them!

did a little shooting today with one of my 38's and 2 of my 357's and about 100+ rounds through a s&w 9mm. now my wrist is a little achy as i was practicing one handed shooting ! was a very enjoyable afternoon tho ! :)
PA - have you experienced the "slide lock" that can occur when re-assembling the XD45? It happened to me and I was very unhappy but I finally freed the slide after reading about it online. If the spring is not placed properly during the pulling of the slide during re-assembly it will get stuck on the slide rails. And I do mean stuck! Always reassemble slowly and make sure the spring is seated.
