AuntieEmma, I don't know if it is the same now, but when I had Credo, it was only $50 a month with all the features. No catch.
Shop around,, there are plans out there that offer minimum svc for like $10 to $30 a month,, it's a trade off tho,, depends on what you want or need,, the less you pay the less minutes you get,, try and find some plan with unlimited minutes,, I'm going to check into Verizon myself
Well, $85 sounds about right to me. We have two phones with a bunch of long-distance minutes (nearly everything is long distance from my place) and free nights (after 7:00pm) and free weekends. My minutes don't roll-over, but I never use all of them anyway. I can send pictures, but have to fight with Nextel every month to get charges taken off of my bill since 'Picture Mail' is supposed to be free.
There are excellent phone cards that allow you to make even international calls for something like... 3 cents a min, and no fixed fees. I was given one of these to call a project team I supervised during the summer, and the card started out with only $50, and it still has about.. $45 left and...more than 2 DAYS of talking, even if I called these intl numbers (in Europe). That's how they tell you how much time you have left, not how many minutes or hours but DAYS!
On the other hand, my fixed phone at home is useless, but I had it for 27 years, have no cellphone, and I have not discontinued it, even tho I am not combining it with either cable or Internet. Every month, even when I am out and have not used it at all, there is a min of $37 or so.
Em--I've had trac fone for years....recently upgraded to an L6 phone--with text and photo capability(altho' I use neither)--when I upgraded phones I got lifetime double minutes.....I can buy a 200 minute card for right at 40 bucks and end up with 400 minutes...I never use that much...

i have a cell, cost me about 44 a month, long distance and all that. have roll over minutes, wish i could give them away, have about 6000 on my phone.
could go cheaper but then i would lose the long distance.
I don't have a cell phone but I would think that with all the competition that's out there you should be able to find a better deal.
You pay 85$ a month for phone service?? That is crazy unless you can afford it. I pay 27$ a month and have 200 minutes of long distance free.I think I have a good deal---RIGHT????????? I carry a cell phone when I am out and that is paid only when I use it,which is very seldom. Better luck next time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHOEVER said that talk is cheap doesn't have my phone bill! LOL!
