Absolutely not. Back then I would have loved to plug in my earphone from my transister radio rather than listen to a teacher, nature of the beast. If you dared to bring one to school with you it would swiftly be confiscated never to be seen again..they should do the same thing now!
I agree Leprikin, how can you learn with music blasting in your ear. The stuff they listen to these days, some of it is dreadful. Of course my parents thought some of our music was dreadful too I guess.
I can't believe you can listen to a teacher and also to the iPod at the same time. All the schools would have to do is start confiscating them and not returning them until the last day of the school year.
No iPod's should be allowed in school. I also agree with Leprikin.
Yikes! I can't imagine music pulsing in my ear during class. I am in law school now, so I'm not talking about the distant past. I won't even listen to music as I study, except for quiet classical music. Yes, take those iPods away. If the kid brings in another, take than one, too. And so on. What's the matter with these school officials?
Back in high school, it was the Rolling Stones and the Doors, along with the bubblegum stuff. The girl groups were kinda fun; it was the heyday of Motown -- the Shirelles, Martha and the Vandellas, and of course the Supremes.
And the boy groups -- the Temptations, Smoky Robinson and the Miracles, etc. And some instrumentals, too, although I think some are early '60s -- "Manhattan Spiritual," "Strangers on the Shore" (Aker Bilk), "Green Onions."
